Honoring the Legacy of Milton A. Washington

On Monday, August 7, 2017, the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council will host its annual Youth Entrepreneur Scholarship Golf Outing at Fox Chapel Golf Club. This year's Golf Outing will honor the legacy of Milton A. Washington, Founder and CEO of Allegheny Housing Rehabilitation Corporation (AHRCO). Engage in friendly sportsmanship on the greens, while raising funds to support educating and exposing our youth on the benefits of entrepreneurship.

The legacy of Milton Washington is as a philanthropist and founder of AHRCO, an East Liberty-based company that provides housing for low-income people throughout the county. Mr. Washington spent his life as a community servant leading initiatives like this Golf Outing. With the support of his family and Honorary Chair, Doris Carson Williams, President and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania, we will honor his legacy and continue the joint mission of Mr. Washington and the Council to deliver positive economic impact by creating sustainable wealth in our communities. We are excited to have a keynote conversation at dinner with Milt's daughter and President of AHRCO, Lara Washington and Christina Lewis Halpern. Christina is the daughter of Reginald Lewis, the first African American business owner to build a billion dollar company, TLC Beatrice Foods. Christina is the Founder and Executive Director of All Star Code, a leading, nationally-recognized tech inclusion organization based in New York City that fosters entrepreneurial talent among high school boys of color and ensure they have the tools to succeed.

Attendees at this year's outing will include representatives from the Region's major corporations and institutions, minority business owners, and regional affinity partners. We invite you to participate in, and sponsor, this year's event. For those new to golf, we are pleased to provide a full-day "Golf Clinic" and "Business on the Greens" seminar led by PGA Professional, Anthony G. Stepney. Participants also have the chance to win exceptional prizes on at the silent auction. Please use this form to contribute a prize, and you will be recognized for your generosity. Golfers will also have the change to win the hole in one prize, a 2017 BMW 320xi from P&W BMW.
