Supporting and loving Eretz Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael is a vital part of our school's mission. This exciting day in Manhattan is a fun way to show our support of Israel together as a school. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students, faculty and parent body to demonstrate the fantastic ruach that we have here at Yeshivat Noam.

The parade is a mandatory school activity for Grades 4- Grade 8, but we understand that Sundays are busy and people occasionally have scheduling conflicts. We strongly encourage all students to participate and welcome any parent volunteers as well.

5th Graders Compete in Science Olympiad

Using only 50 straws and 20 straight pins, which design would you use to construct the strongest bridge? How would you fold a piece of paper to make it the most aerodynamic? How would you construct cups and plates to build the tallest tower? These were just some of the challenges students faced in the 5th Grade Science Olympiad.

Special Project for Yom Yerushalayim- Planting Fruit Tree Orchard in Israel

Dear Parents,

This month, Yeshivat Noam will be assisting schools in Israel as they plant fruit trees in order to help farmers hit by the recent fires. Those fires, unfortunately, burned thousands of their fruit trees and grapevines. We are working together with the excellent organization, Zo Artzeinu which plants more fruit trees than any other program in Israel.

As a special program, as well as to commemorate the upcoming 50th Yom Yerushalayim Yovel celebration and anniversary of the unification of Jerusalem, they are in the process of twinning 50 schools in North America with 50 schools in Israel. Each school will plant 1 of 50 orchards on behalf of their twin school in honor of Yom Yerushalayim. This is both an educational program for our students, and it provides real help in the building of the Land of Israel.

Please join us in purchasing trees from this wonderful organization. Please use our school's unique tracking link to keep track of how many trees our school has planted.
When you click on the link below, scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your information. Remember to put in Yeshivat Noam's name when prompted.

To purchase a tree in Eretz Yisrael:
Yeshivat Noam Tree Page

* We will order the fruit trees based on your participation on their website.
* Every family will receive a beautiful personalized certificate with their name on it. If we plant 100 trees as a school community, we get a special plaque at the orchard with our school's name and one to place on display in our school.
* We can visit our orchard and the trees we helped plant when we are in Israel.

Thank you so much for your support of this wonderful and worthy cause,

Rabbi Chaim Hagler
Rabbi Yitz Motechin
Rabbi Elie Kurtz
Special Schoolwide Chesed Initiative

Dear Yeshivat Noam Family,

Acts of Chesed have always been an integeral part of our Yeshivat Noam education.

There is an inspiring initiative underway, a joint initiative of The Afikim Foundation and Israel's Ministry for Diaspora Affairs, to write a Global Unity Sefer Torah celebrating the 50th Anniversary of a Reunited Jerusalem.

Jews everywhere can inscribe letters in the Torah, NOT with money, but with simple acts of chesed.
To see more information about this global initiative, please watch this 1-minute video!

Since groups may reserve blocks of letters, we've taken the opportunity to reserve a block of 2,000 letters for Yeshivat Noam.
The custom link for our school's block can be accessed by clicking here.

You may reserve letters for yourself and/or your entire family as a group. It just takes a minute and you can reserve as many as you'd like.

A digital file of all names and deeds will remain permanently with the Torah, which will be dedicated in Jerusalem on May 28, 2017, Yom Yerushalayim. (There's also a Drawing with 3 round-trip tickets to attend the dedication!)

The Torah is being donated to ZAKA in Jerusalem, an emergency response and recovery organization that helps set up houses of mourning whenever the unfortunate need arises.

Challenge yourself to commit many acts of kindness by May 27th. There is no chesed too small! Check out the jerusalem50.org site for some suggestions.

Let's complete the Yeshivat Noam block in the Global Unity Torah and inspire goodness in the world in honor of Jerusalem! (All blue letters are available.)

You can go directly to our block here.

Collecting Jerseys and Soccer Balls
Dear Yeshivat Noam Family,

I have chosen Breaking The Chains Through Education (BTCTE) as my chesed for my upcoming Bar Mitzvah. I am collecting SPORTS JERSEYS, SOCCER BALLS and gently used or new SUMMER CLOTHES. JERSEYS (teams, MGBL, FOOTBALL) of any kind can be donated to the children in Ghana, Africa. They are rescued from slavery and then educated in schools built by the BTCTE organization.

A labeled box in the Middle School and  Elementary School buildings near the office is  where you can drop off the donations.

Thanks so much !
