Street Safety
With only two weeks of school remaining before summer break, this is no time to take a break from safety. Please remember, there is no parking in red zones on Mable Street. Also, please remember, in the morning, there are only two drop off locations for students. On the field side, students may be dropped off along the curb before the gym. There is no student drop off in front of the gym or parking lot. On the other side of Mable Street, there is a drop off at the curb before the big tree. For safety reasons, students MAY NOT be dropped off in the parking lot. This is very dangerous. Additionally, we ask that you remain in your car while utilizing the parent pick-up and drop-off. Otherwise, you are considered to be parked and Anaheim Police Department may ticket you. We thank you for helping us close out the school year in the safest way possible.

Homework Club
The final day of Homework Club and 4:15 pm Parent Pick-up will be Thursday, May 25.

EPICS Students Give Back

Fairmont Prep students in the Advanced Science and Engineering Program end their year with the capstone class EPICS. EPICS stands for Engineering Projects in Community Service. Purdue University is the founding site and headquarters of the EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) program and promotes the program in high schools around the world. Their mission is for the EPICS K-12 Program to be a leader in developing, disseminating, and supporting service learning models that engage students in engineering and computing-based design projects that meet the needs of their communities.

The motivation behind the EPICS program is to enable pre-college age students to connect engineering and computing design with people and local community needs. In the EPICS program, students work in teams and partner with a non-profit organization. Students design projects to meet the needs of this community partner, enabling them to better serve residents in the local community. Partnerships are key to the EPICS program. The EPICS model involves the reciprocity of benefits of student, community, and mentors. The community partners serve as the customers, corporate and higher education partners serve as mentor to the students offering expertise, and additional partnerships through foundations and philanthropic organizations offer financial and/or material support as needed.

Fairmont Prep's EPICS class had four teams working with Share Our Selves and Habitat for Humanity. They used their knowledge from the ASEP classes they took the past fours years and put it into action. Their projects were not only meaningful to the non-profits but to the volunteers as well. We are very proud of this year's projects and look forward to seeing how next year's EPICS students will help the community.
