Lag B'Omer Fun for All at TABC
|
TABC celebrated Lag B'Omer with a fun day out for the whole school. Students were able to chose from a variety of offerings including: whitewater rafting, paintball, biking, a visit to the Liberty Science Center, ice hockey, sports in Votee Park and bowling. The day started with a shiur before Shacharit by Rabbi Yoni Mandelstam and ended with Rabbi Raphi Mandelstam giving a shiur after Mincha. It was a day of fun and bonding between talmidim and rebbeim.

Senator Bob Gordon Visits TABC
|
TABC is honored to have hosted Senator Bob Gordon (NJ, D) on Wednesday. The senator, who represents legislative district 38, came with Ariella Noveck, who is Director of Field Operations at Teach NJS, an arm of the OU Advocacy Center.
Teach NJS is working with government officials to bring greater aid to the non-public schools of New Jersey, which includes yeshivot and day schools. As Ms. Novick emphasized, "Every student deserves to be safe and secure. Yesterday was a great opportunity for the senator to come and see what TABC has to offer and the growth which is occurring within the school. He got to see how they are busting at the seams with lively, engaged learners who require greater funding for technology aid, nursing aid, security aid, and textbook aid in order to continue to thrive, learn and grow."
In coming to see TABC in action, the senator was provided the opportunity to see the true need of this particular non-public school, further encouraging him to continue his unconditional support of all non-public schools, across the state. In turn, Senator Gordon graciously spoke to Rabbi Fridman's Y8 class, regaling them with how the legislature works, and what he does as an NJ legislator. He also explained how a bill gets passed into a law, and stressed the importance of voting in smaller, local elections. He explained that it is on the local level that an individual's voice can truly be heard, and make a difference. Mr. Poleyeff, who attended the students' seminar commented that "Senator Gordon's visit to TABC demonstrated his dedication to private, yeshiva school education and the necessary "extra-curricular" needs such as nursing, textbooks, technology and security."
After a question-answer session with the students, Senator Gordon was lead on a tour of TABC with our Head of School. Rabbi Yablok later commented, "
It was a pleasure and a privilege to spend some time with Senator Gordon, and witness first-hand his commitment to our school community as he advocates for us in the NJ legislature
."
All of us at TABC are grateful for Senator Gordon's efforts on our behalf.

By Rabbi Daniel Fridman
This year's NORPAC mission, which brought over one thousand volunteers to Washington to lobby our elected representatives on behalf of a strong US-Israel relationship, featur
ed TABC students, parents, faculty members, and Judiac Studies principal, Rabbi Ezra Wiener.
Our day began early at Congregation Ahavat Torah with a
5:15 AM Shacharit. It was a particular source of nachat for me to see my talmidim at this early morning minyan ahead of the long day of advocating on behalf of Medinat Yisrael, reflecting the deep commitment of our students to the full range of our most cherished values.
The four major points of advocacy for this year's mission were Congressional support for $3.1 billion in foreign aid to Israel for this current year, sanctions against Iran for their continued promotion of terrorism throughout the region and continued develop of their ballistic missiles program, renewed and tougher sanctions against Hezbollah, and finally, legislation against the growing BDS movement. In aggregate, we met with almost the entire Senate and over ninety percent of the House of Representatives.
The NORPAC mission is a deep fulfillment of the mandate of Chazal, tziyon hi doresh ein lah- miklal d'baaya drishah, one needs to seek out the welfare of Zion. We are exceptionally proud of all of the students who participated in this vital mission. They are Isaac Forgash '19, Moshe Golubtchik '19,
Yonatan Kurz '18, Alex Ostrin '19, Asher Powers '19, Shai Rosalimsky '18, Shmuel Ross '18, and Yaakov Zinberg '18.

Community Shavuot Program |
We are proud to announce that for the fourth consecutive year TABC will be hosting Community Wide Shavuot Learning. Shiurim by TABC rebbeim will be delivered throughout the Teaneck/ Bergenfield community on the two days of Shavuot.
The program will take place at Beth Aaron (Rabbi Daniel Fridman and Rabbi Yoni Mandelstam), Beth Abraham (Rabbi Nosson Rich), Bnai Yeshurun (Rabbi Yosef Adler and Rabbi Duvie Nachbar) and Keter Torah (Rabbi Ezra Wiener and Rabbi Raphi Mandelstam) in coordination with local shuls.
For the schedule, please click here. |
We inadvertently made two errors in last week's issue. The frog dissection was done by the seniors, not sophomores as reported. Additionally, the six points in the JV Soccer game were made by Yonadav Rimberg, not his brother Amiel as reported. We apologize for the errors.
