Great Make Day to Showcase Rancho Cordova Hacker Lab Potential 

Hacker Lab, a co-working space focused on entrepreneurship and technology, is looking to establish a new location in Rancho Cordova. To show Rancho Cordova what "making" is all about, they are bringing together innovators and entrepreneurs for Great Make Day at City Hall  on Saturday, June 10th.

The event is free and will feature exhibits, workshops, and live demonstrations. 



Rancho Cordova Reviewing Applications for City Council Vacancy

The City of Rancho Cordova is currently reviewing applications to fill the vacant City Council seat left by Council Member Dan Skoglund, who passed away in April. Council Members plan to interview applicants and select the new Member at the June 5th City Council meeting.


Public Works for You

Your City Public Works team is busy improving our City with these new projects:

Justinian Drive at Sunrise Boulevard Signalization Project
The City recently activated a new traffic signal at the intersection of Justinian Drive and Sunrise Boulevard to improve access and traffic safety to and from the Anatolia neighborhood and adjacent parks.    

Douglas Road and Grant Line Road Traffic Signal 
Construction has begun to install a new traffic signal at Douglas Road and Grant Line Road in Rancho Cordova. The project will improve safety and traffic flow.

Rod Beaudry-Routier Bikeway Project
The City is proposing a project to create a safe, convenient route for bicyclists and promote alternative transportation methods from Rancho Cordova neighborhoods to the American River Parkway. The City hosted a community meeting at City Hall yesterday to share more information about the proposed project and to collect feedback from residents.

Name That School Sweepstakes Winners Selected

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Name That School Sweepstakes! Project Improves Stream Flow at Cordova Creek

Residents and local leaders gathered at Soil Born Farms last month to celebrate the completion of the Cordova Creek Naturalization Project. The project removed concrete to create a functioning, living stream lined with native plants and a new walking trail that improves access to the American River Parkway.



Rancho Cordova Named "Tree Hero"  

The Sacramento Tree Foundation awarded the City of Rancho Cordova  its "Growing Greenprint" Tree Hero Award yesterday for our outstanding accomplishments in tree planting, care, and stewardship! The City will continue to build our urban tree canopy to provide shade, clean the air, and beautify Rancho Cordova. 


Community Enhancement Fund Announcements 

It's anticipated that the City Council will formally adopt the fiscal year 2017/2018 Community Enhancement Fund budget on June 5. That means City Council Members are expected to award over $6 million in grant funding from the City's Community Enhancement Fund. Nearly $1 million will go towards arts, culture, history, entertainment, and sports enhancement projects. 

Free Bike Maintenance Classes Offered at City Hall  

Learn the basics of keeping your bicycle in good repair so you can ride all summer long! Three free hands-on classes will be offered at City Hall during the month of June. 


Summer at City Hall Application Deadline Extended

Incoming high school juniors and seniors now have until Friday, June 16th to sign up for Summer at City Hall, a FREE 4-week program that provides students with personal and professional development, as well as civic engagement lessons and activities. A limited number of paid summer internships will also be offered in various departments at Rancho Cordova City Hall.

Protect our Local Creeks and Rivers from Pool Water

The Sacramento Stormwater Quality Partnership  reminds pool owners who need to drain their pools or spas to refrain from discharging the water, which contains chemicals harmful to the environment, into storm drains.
 
Pride Scholarship Winner 

The City of Rancho Cordova awarded Annie La, an outstanding Cordova High School senior, with the 2017 Community PRIDE Scholarship of $500 last month. City staff raised funds and chose Annie based on her impressive academic performance and community service. Congratulations, Annie!



New Police Department Website and Social Media


The Rancho Cordova Police Department has just launched a new website, and they are now on Instagram! Visit the new RCPD website to meet our officers, review recent crime and safety news, or to use the online anonymous tip and crime reporting systems. Follow RCPD on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay informed about law enforcement and safety issues in the City.

The Rancho Cordova City Council approved three artistic murals to be painted and installed in the City on main corridors frequently used by pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers. To mark the City of Rancho Cordova's 14th birthday, the City invites you to sign up to participate in the painting of one of these murals!
