Join Us Tomorrow for K-8 Social Hour and Kaffeeklatsch

Join us tomorrow  Friday, May 19, for our combined K-8 Social Hour and PT Kaffeeklatsch!
  • 7:50-8:15am - parents/guardians gather in classrooms to visit with teachers and interns
  • 8:15-8:30am - adults quietly observe Morning Circle
  • 8:30-9:30am - gather in the Commons for coffee and socializing!

GO VOTE in the Board Elections!

Vote for THREE board members this year to serve three year terms . You may pick up and drop off your ballot packet before and after school in the carpool lines or in the TCGIS office. Read the board candidates bios here and watch the "Meet the Candidates" video here.

If your child rides the bus, please feel free to print your ballot and signature card You will need to provide one smaller envelope (for your ballot) and one larger envelope (for the smaller SEALED envelope and signature card). We suggest you do not send your ballot to school with your child.  Only 1 ballot per envelope.

All ballots must be dropped off (or postmarked) by 4:45 pm on Friday, May 19.

2017-18 Re-registration Forms Due Back by May 24th!

Please remember to return your student's registration paperwork for the 2017-18 school year no later than  May 24th. Families should have received all necessary forms via email, but you can also find them  here.

Please Join the Special Education Advisory Committee Monday, May 22 5:30-7pm at the Como Park Fire Pits f or the SEAC Family Picnic Bring a picnic dinner for your family.  SEAC will provide S'Mores Fixin's for the bonfire.

Intern Program: We Need ONE Host Family for Fall

Next school year, TCGIS will welcome at total of  32 interns from German speaking countries who will assist our teachers in the K-8 classrooms. We are still looking for ONE host family for the fall semester (August-January), offering your family an opportunity for greater language learning and cultural exchange.

Update: Girls Excel in Math-New Summer Camp Opportunity

Mrs Morrissey, assisted by  SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied  Mathematics) Student Chapter at the University of Minnesota, is offering a Summer Math Camp for Girls. Learn more about Mrs Morrissey  here .

The Poll results are in! The camp will take place the week of August 14th through 18th. Please take  this survey  to help determine what grade levels are interested in participating by Monday May 15th. Camp registration forms will be sent out in next week's Elternbrief.
Limited Time to Sign Up for TCGS Sommercamp!

TCGIS Sommercamp
 runs from July 10 - 28 for incoming 3rd - 8th grades.  Camps are filling up, so sign your child up today for a fun, week-long day camp with one of the following themes: circus, bees, cooking, folklore, mural painting, or book arts!  Campers speak German all day and receive a T-shirt with the Sommercamp logo. Click here for more information. Musik im Mai: Klezmerica 
Friday, May 19 at 7pm

Concert runs 1 hour 30 min with a 15 min intermission.

Join us for the rare opportunity to hear the premier Klezmer band in the USA, Klezmerica, in the GAI Haus. Klezmer is a lively music tradition which comes from the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe, including Germany, Poland, and Russia. Led by Joseph Vass, Klezmerica creates its own brand of Klezmer music, blending Yiddish folk music with classic Jazz, American Blues, and pop styles. While nationally recognized, Klezmerica has its local claim to fame with the popular musical The Soul of Gershwin: The Musical Journey of an American Klezmer, which has played at the Park Square Theater multiple times, most recently this past December. German Language Summer Camp 2017June 19 to August 18 
Spots are disappearing quickly for GAI German Language Summer Camps. Our weekly day-camps provide fun, interactive German language education for children grades 1-3. Two camps will also be offered for incoming Kindergarteners in the middle of August. A list of the dates, themes, and information on before/after care options available online. NEW PROGRAM  -  SOMMER-SCHULE 2017
Program for kids 1st to 4th grade (TCGIS or equivalent/advanced German skills ) -June 21 to Aug. 16; 8 weeks on Wednesday afternoon, June 21 to Aug. 16
Program for Middle School / High School - 1 week Monday through Friday, 9am to noon, Aug. 21-25

Programs for students with prior German knowledge who want to maintain & enhance language skills over the summer months.  Courses are taught in a classroom setting and will focus on speaking & vocabulary and listening & reading skills.  Click for more information and to register.
