A Message from our Pastor

"Ownself!"  That was my son's frequent demand when he was about two. Help him dress? "Ownself!" Lift him into the highchair? "Ownself!" Sometimes things went well, sometimes not so well. The result didn't matter. He was determined to do it "Ownself!" I think we are often like that with God. Ian has outgrown "Ownself!" but I'm not sure most of us have. We ask for God's help, then snatch back the request as we muddle through on our own. Paul Tillich wrote: Prayer is the surrender of a fragment of existence to God . How hard that is!  Yet to be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to do just that. We trust God to show the way through the snarls and tangles of life. If it is hard for you to let go, try just a "fragment", a little bit. Surrender some small part of your life to God. Start small, but don't stop there. Learn that indeed our God is trustworthy-and far more creative than ideas we have!

Graduate Recognition - this Sunday

Christ Our Ki n g will be recognizing our High School and College Graduates this Sunday, June 4 during worship.
Annual Plant Swap, this Sunday

It's that time of year again. Gardens are greening up. Spring flowers are blooming. We are planting vegetables and thinning out those perennials that have happily taken over a little more space than we planned. Please share those extra plants with the rest of the family at COK on Sunday, June the 4 th . Or plan to take home a couple of new additions for your own garden. Share any extra seeds you might have so others can experiment with new varieties. Just bring your plants and seeds to share to the Narthex before the service, clearly labeled as to what they are. There will be tables set up to display the offerings. Plan on shopping for new additions to your gardens after the service.

Any questions?  Please contact the Stastnys or the Vande Kiefts
