Last night we had the opportunity to taste the 2013 Giodo Rosso Toscana. The Giodo Rosso is the 250 cases production baby brother to the Giodo Brunello.. The 2013 big brother, Guido Brunello sells for an average price of $250.00 per bottle. Same vineyards, a little less time in oak and bottle, same old vine Sangiovese, same legendary winemaker, but over $200.00 per bottle less cash. By the way, the wine is spectacular. The fr uit is electric, this wine pops with bright red and blue fruit, tremendous spice, all very long in mouth feel and all at a very high octave. One can drink acclaimed high dollar wines every day and this little Rosso's purity of fruit and virtually flawless structure will still stand out in your mind. We often explain that wine is a living product. This wine is not simply alive, it is jumping up and down and doing somersaults in and out of the glass. So if you would like to taste a virtually perfect Sangiovese without spending the $250 per, we highly recommend  you give this one a try!

- We tasted it with traditional pot roast simmered in red wine, INCREDIBLE.
- Winemaker Carlo Ferrini has made some of the most acclaimed wines in Italian wine history. You will a list of wineries he works with as well as some links at the bottom of the page.

  2013 GIODO ROSSO Toscano
$45 PER, 10% off 6 or more, can mix

The 2013 Giodo is a gorgeous effort from one of Tuscanys most accomplished enologists, Carlo Ferrini. This wine dazzles with pretty aromas of dark cherries and wild berries along with spring floral, sweet spices and eucalyptus notes emerging from the glass. On the palate this is elegant and refined, showing wonderful structure and balance with fine, silky tannins and a beautiful touch of acidity which carries over onto the long finish. A lovely showing and should only become more complex as it evolves over the next few years. (Best 2018-2027) - Estimate value $75

2011 GIODO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO
$99 PER, 10% off 6 or more, can mix, easily the lowest price in the country!

The 2011 Brunello is retailing for $150 per.  The 2010 and 2013 are both out on the net at $250...crazy.  While this wine was not one we tasted last night, the importer mentioned it and since they have a great relationship with the winery,  we are getting an awesome deal!!

"This aromas of this Brunello are fresh and fascinating with mushroom, chili pepper, black berry and plum. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a super length. This is a great bottle for the vintage. The private wine of famous winemaker Carlo Ferrini. Drink or hold." - (February 15th, 2016) 96 Points - James Suckling

"Carlo Ferrini's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a deliciously lush and soft expression of Sangiovese that offers great aromatic depth, complexity and intrigue. The wine keeps you guessing and in my case it took me a little while to wrap my head around it. Dark cherry and blackberry are harmoniously integrated with spice, leather, mocha and tobacco. It does, however, need a few moments to find balance. In the mouth, the wine is edgy and sharp with some sour cherry and cranberry. I know that winemaker Ferrini says he prefers this vintage to his 2010 Brunello. Both wines are beautiful, but I give the edge to 2010. This expression feels linear, tight and requires a few extra years of bottle aging to flesh out." 94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

One of Italy's most famous winemakers, Carlo Ferrini has finally carved out a vineyard for his own label, Giodo. After years crafting some of the most award winning wines in Tuscany (Casanova di Neri, Mazzei, Brancaia, Petrolo, Castello del Terriccio, Talenti, Barone Ricasoli) as well as being named "Winemaker of the Year - 2008" by Wine Enthusiast, he wanted something he could call his own.
