MEET THE HOPI TEAM!
Community Meeting Alert!

The community is invited to attend a meeting Tuesday, May 16, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Hopi Elementary.

The architect and contractors will be available to answer your questions about designs and construction plans for the Hopi rebuild. This is also a great opportunity to get to know your Hopi committee members, who have been providing input to the district and the design team!

MEET THE HOHOKAM TEAM!
Community Meeting Alert!

The community is invited to attend a meeting Monday, May 22, from 6:00-7:00 PM in the Hohokam cafeteria.

The architect and contractors will show the very first design and construction plans for the Hohokam rebuild. We hope to see you there!

WEEKLY PROGRESS

On Wednesday, May 10 , community members gathered at Cheyenne to review designs for a new gymnasium, classroom building and front office. Much of the conversation centered on a new, two-lane, drop-off system, which is still a work in progress. Based on community feedback, the design team will take a closer look at the plan. One option, suggested by Principal Grace Stombres, would change the way students enter the campus to ensure safety while still keeping traffic off of the street.

Also this week, we got a clearer picture of exactly what improvements will be made at each and every SUSD school, not just the major rebuilds. You can view the list of projects underway for your school by clicking on the learning community links on bond.susd.org.

Coming soon,  Hohokam will select members for its rebuild committee. Interested parents, teachers and neighbors can sign up in the school's front office or at the May 22 community meeting.

RUMOR OF THE WEEK ( or: Myth Busting)

It's not exactly a rumor, but we know many people are talking about how override dollars will be spent to benefit fine arts, athletics and other programs in our schools.

The first major override expense will be technology upgrades, such as new computers, which are already in the works for every school in the district. Other improvements include new furniture, playground equipment, instructional materials and more. School needs are currently being assessed in those areas to determine when and where dollars will be spent. Final decisions have not yet been made.
Thank you for your dedication to our Scottsdale students and schools!
