Clock Hands Return to the
Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower
The restoration of the iconic Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower clock continued with the reinstallation of newly constructed clock hands to the four sides of the building’s exterior. Experts from Balzer Family Clock Works in Freeport, Maine reinstalled the hands and restored the clock to its original gravity-driven mechanism. The new clock hands and clock are now in place at the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower and can be viewed during tours of the clock room every Saturday at 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm for $8. A formal rededication of the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower and open house will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
The restoration of the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower is far from complete. Phase III of the restoration will cost $1.3 million to completely stabilize and restore the Tower. The next phase includes preservation and restoration of the exterior façade by restoring the terracotta around the clock and cleaning and repointing the brick.
