Vendor News
----------------------
Looks like we are heading straight into summer weather for this coming Memorial Day Weekend, and that means we'll have our famous water mister a running down on the west end of Hancock Street once the mercury rises.
Even more, we'll have several more vendors back in action for the week. If you've been looking for Cardamon Hills Trading Company, Thomas & Suns Distillery and Old House Dahlias you are in luck because they are all at market this week.
Do you feel like you just keep missing a few of your favorite vendors? Dragonfly Forge, Naked Acres Farm, Ken & June's Hazelnuts, More Bees and Leikam Brewing are all on an every other week schedule and they will all be with us at market this Saturday.
Exciting news! A new farm is joining Hollywood for this season and will be kicking things off for the season this Saturday. Make sure to stop by and meet Mehmet with
Sun Fox Gardens,
operating
an urban micro farm in North Portland offering native plants, mirco greens, mushroom growing kits and seasonal and unique vegetable and fruit starts. They will down on the northwest corner across from the information booth for the rest of the season.
Hollywood Garden Mural repainting has a Facebook event!
----------------------
Last summer, over 100 volunteers came out to paint the
Hollywood Garden Mural on our block of NE Hancock Street between 44th and 45th! Taking its inspiration from the bountiful produce on display at the farmers market, the mural takes the form of a garden, with a path of stepping stones winding its way around fruits, vegetables and vines. This is one of the largest street paintings in Portland, stretching curb-to-curb along 100 feet of Hancock Street. On market day, it serves as a beautiful carpet for the farmers market, and throughout the week it leaves a reminder of the market on the street.
Now that it's been a year (and a brutal winter), it's time to repaint the mural. Help us re-beautify this block of the Hollywood neighborhood, and come out on
Sunday, July 16th! Please join the event's
Facebook page here, where we will be posting updates over the next two months.
