Yogurt, with it's cool, creamy, and delicious flavor, is often a childhood favorite. Shopping for yogurt might be more confusing now than it has ever been before, with supermarkets offering dozens of varieties: low-fat, fat-free, full-fat, Greek, traditional, plain, fruit-flavored, in a squeezable tube....the possibilities seem endless!  How do you know what to look for in yogurt?

Generally, it is best to choose low-fat or fat-free yogurt (except for infants/young toddlers), and to choose varieties with very little added sugars. Note that all yogurt will have some natural sugar from lactose (the naturally occurring sugar in milk). Read more

Growing season in North Dakota and Minnesota is here! Some of the vegetables that grow best in our region are root vegetables. You likely recognize some of the common root vegetables, including carrots, radishes, beets, and parsnips. Other root vegetables are also becoming more "trendy," such as jicama, celery root, and rutabaga. 

A few of these root vegetables, including radishes and beets, are ready to harvest early in the growing season. Consider trying one of the lesser known root vegetables this month!
