FOUNDATION E-CONNECTIONS

  2017 LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GIVERS
We are extremely proud of the 2017 inductees into the League of Extraordinary Givers. This diverse group of individuals has supported so much in our community: illustrated the importance of Renton's history; raised money through the Return to Renton Car Show; bolstered education in our school district; helped to provide millions of charitable dollars through a local foundation; given a leg up to disadvantaged children; and helped make the arts available to everyone. Countless lives have been changed as a result of the work these people have done and continue to do. Please join us in congratulating (from left to right) Geri Carlson, Liz Stewart, Linda Middlebrooks, Jim & Joanne Medzegian, and Janet & Harry Blencoe (in front).

2017 FUND APPRECIATION DINNER
We held our second annual Fund Appreciation Dinner at Renton Technical College on April 11. The dinner brings fund advisors together to network and hear about what's new at the Foundation. We updated them on RCF's plans for growth, heard from our investment managers, and launched a new program aimed at making sure our fund advisors feel loved and part of the family!

Are you sitting on appreciated stock? Are you worried about capital gains?

Consider the benefit of transferring stock directly to the Renton Community Foundation to establish a charitable fund in your name or the name of someone you love. By donating it to RCF, you avoid the capital gains and can claim an income tax deduction for the amount of the donation. It's easy and it's painless. You can ask your broker to transfer shares of a company directly to the Foundation using a simple set of instructions we will provide. The Foundation will then sell the stocks and transfer the proceeds directly to your
Donor Advised Fund.
Win - win.

 DOUG BALDWIN HELPS FOUNDATION CELEBRATE
$10 MILLION MILESTONE

Doug Baldwin, wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks, was this year's Rising Star Award winner for the LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GIVERS. Since he was unable to attend the CELEBRATE! event in February, Mr. Baldwin graciously agreed to join us for our May foundation board meeting to accept his award. Perfect timing! We were also celebrating a major milestone - $10 million in assets.  Mr. Baldwin accepted his award, spoke eloquently of how he learned about giving back to the community when he was young, and then joined the board in a group photo to memorialize the event.

Congratulations to Mr. Baldwin.

And congratulations and thanks to all of our fund-holders and donors for their continued confidence and support. Together - we lift people out of poverty, put at-risk kids on the right path to success, help seniors, inspire through the arts and so much more.

INVESTMENT REPORT
Britton Smith, CFA,
US Bank Charitable Services Group.

RCF investments are off to a strong start this year.  Through March 31st, the RCF portfolio has returned 4.8% and 11.4% over the last twelve months.  Stocks have been the primary contributor to those returns, while fixed income returns have been additive, but more muted.  Our outlook continues to be constructive, with an eye on equity market leadership transitioning from domestic to international markets.  Rising interest rates will continue to be a headwind for fixed income markets.  We are pleased with the results and continue to maintain a conservatively balanced and globally diversified asset allocation. For more information, contact the Foundation office at [email protected].
The Renton Community Foundation is proud to welcome the
Roger and Marlene Winter Fund to our family of charitable funds. Marlene has been a long-time RCF Board member, and also helped to start the RUFF Fund, which built and maintains Renton's off-leash dog park. Marlene sits on the Renton Parks Commission Board and volunteers in a variety of other ways in the community. Roger has been very active with Seattle Pacific University, World Concern and Crista Ministries.
Together, their fund is already impacting lives through grants to the Seattle Urban Academy, Friends of Renton Schools and much more.
