WELCOME TO RUTIZ FARMS
Memorial Day weekend is upon us...."the beginning of summer"! To help you celebrate, we will have our first of the season peaches, nectarines and apriums from our friends at Burkart Organic Farm near Fresno. Along with our strawberries and Teixeira Farms blueberries...you could make up a nice fruit salad.
PRESS RELEASE FROM SLO SEED EXCHANGE
SLO Seed Exchange is hosting its "Seedsaving Workshop" as a strawberry tasting in the field at Rutiz Family Farms on Saturday May 27 from 1-3pm.
As many of you know already, our friendly farmer "farm without harm" Jerry Rutiz is a strawberry guy. He loves them and treats them right - no chemicals, no pesticides, just perfect (not-certified) organic berries that we can eat straight off the plants. This year he is growing five strawberry varieties. When we discussed a topic for our seedsaving workshop with him, he responded, "Strawberry tasting!"
So that is what we are doing next Saturday during Memorial Day weekend. You are all invited to join local seedsavers for this special and tasty session with a very knowledgeable local farmer. Our workshop fee of $15, payable by check or cash at the event, supports the many community activities of SLO Seed Exchange .
