NC PRE-K UPDATES AND REGISTRATION
NC Pre-K had fun in April celebrating the Week of the Young Child. The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families.
Among the many activities, numerous community leaders and politicians visited the classrooms and read with the children.   Pictured below is NC Senator, Tommy Tucker with a class at Walter Bickett Education Center. Others who read with the children include: Caleb Barnhardt, Sheila Crunkleton, Pat Kahle, Nina Meadows, Charles Perry, Steve Ramsey, Gene Robbins, Stony Rushing, Linda Smith and Suzanne Walters.

Do you know of a 4 year old who may be eligible for FREE preschool through the Union County NC Pre-K program? This program offers high quality educational experiences for eligible 4 year olds and enhances school readiness. To apply for this program, a child must live in Union County and must be four years old on or before August 31, 2017.
EDUCATION STARS - SUMMER PILOT PROGRAM
Education Stars is excited to be offering a summer pilot course. Thanks to receiving additional funding from The Alliance for Children, teachers working full time in a licensed child care center in Union County will have the opportunity to take the EDU 119 - Introduction to Early Childhood Education to receive their NC Child Care Credential during the summer. There is a very limited amount of space in this 8 week course, so if you are interested please contact Trinisha Dean at 704-290-5863 or email [email protected] . There will be a mandatory orientation on Wednesday, May 31st from 6:30pm to 7:30pm for students that have registered for EDU 119. "We are thrilled about our students being able to take advantage of this opportunity as the first summer pilot program!", said Dean.
