Fall Color Weekend Oct. 28-29 at Maggie's Wine Cave

After a long growing season, there so many reasons to come to  Fall Color Weekend at Maggie's Wine Cave Oct. 28-29.
Enjoy autumn's sunny days and acres of  leaves changing color in the Between the Hills Valley, nestled between Short Hill and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

- Celebrate Maggie and Mark's successful 2017 grape harvest. Mark should be finished picking the last grapes of the year by then, and Maggie will have them fermenting into future award-winning wines.
- Bring a picnic lunch and soak in the autumn sunshine and vineyard and pond views. Your dog will enjoy the fresh air and exercise, too!
- Stock up for the long Winter season on Maggie's "Last Chance" Sangria. Enjoy a 10% discount on Sangria bottles; she won't make it again until the spring!
- It's the last weekend for live music on the patio. Listen to the smooth tunes of Tim James on Saturday, Oct. 28, and Anthony Semaio on Sunday, Oct. 29.

As the seasons change, you'll be enjoying more of Maggie's delicious red wines.
This month's wine and food pairing features Maggie's award-winning Meritage 2014 with Balsamic Grilled Flank Steak and Arugula Salad.
Meritage 2014 is a well-balanced, full-bodied blend with layers of flavor like black cherry, currants and vanilla with a long, lingering finish.
Meritage 2014 is a featured wine in the Virginia Wine of the Month Club. It also won a gold medal in the 2017 Finger Lakes International Wine competition and a silver in the 2017 Virginia Governor's Cup competitio n .
Meritage 2014 is on the current menu in the tasting room.  Bring some home today!

From the vineyards with Mark...

We grow 15 varieties of Old World grapes on our 30 acres of vineyards that Maggie turns into award-winning wines.
Thanks to a warm spring, this harvest season started about two weeks early when we picked our first grapes in late August.
We have been busy ever since, hand picking each grape variety as it ripened.
Fortunately, the fall nights haven't turned chilly until recently. This week, we'll pick the last reds to ripen: Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
With harvest 2017 nearly completed, we have added up totals and expect a record-breaking yield that will exceed last year's - about 120 tons of our finest Virginia-grown grapes!

Veterans Day discount for military personnel
As former U.S. Navy officers, Maggie and Mark have a special appreciation for the service of U.S. military members.
That's why they offer a 10% discount on wine bottle purchases to current and former military members during Veterans Day Weekend Nov. 10-12.
Please present your military identification and ask one of our tasting room associates for your discount on wine bottle purchases.

California wineries in crisis after wild fires

Virginia has been blessed with a bountiful 2017 harvest season.
At the same time, we are painfully aware that our colleagues in California's wine country have suffered devastating losses after wild fires ravaged the region near Santa Rosa and areas of S onoma, Napa, and Mendocino counties earlier this month.
The fire caused deaths and the loss of homes and businesses. Our California wine-making counterparts have suffered adverse impacts on vineyards, wineries, and tourism that will last for years to come.
If you are moved by these devastating losses, the Virginia Vineyard Association recommends contributing to the following charitable organizations focused on providing relief to the California wine industry and other victims of these fires.
Please consider making a donation toward the relief efforts:
