OPENING WEEKEND

Boaters are a hardy lot, as evidenced by Preview Day and opening day crowds converging on the Enercare Centre, ready for summer, despite the past week's persistent weather warnings!

Canadian Boat Shows utilizes a system of counting each attendee once, ensuring that each person/ticket is counted one time only - unlike a turnstile system that often counts consumers and exhibitors multiple times.

Final attendance is determined by counting each paid admission ticket at the box office, e-ticket, exhibitor guest ticket, complimentary ticket, exhibitor badge, marine trades badge, and children.

We will provide an update on overall attendance every couple of days. Due to the volume of responsibilities opening weekend, attendance will be reported in Monday's newsletter.
Thank You to Our Generous Donors
Thank you to all who generously donated items for Preview Day's auctions, and to Pride Marine Group, who donated the top live auction item: a Sea Ray SPX 190 Bowrider sterndrive.

Proceeds of the evening help support our three charity partners.

Thank you, also, to Preview Day sponsors - Pride Marine Group, Muskoka Brewery, and The Boat Warehouse.

MARKETING - BUY/SELL A BOAT & WIN
$100 Dealer Draw Winner

Dave Lima of Mobile Marine (shown here) won $100 on Friday when he sold a boat, entered a ballot into the 2018 Buy a Boat & Win program, and his ballot was drawn.

A total of 68 boats have been sold to date by dealers who submitted ballots.

Saturday's winner will be announced in the next newsletter.

Click the button below to see how you could win $100, and your customer can win $10,000 toward his or her boat purchase - large or small - at this year's show!
Today is Final Show Day for Celebrity, Stand-up Paddleboarder Brenda Low

For her final show day, Survivor castaway and stand-up paddleboard ambassador Brenda Lowe will be doing SUP demos on The Lake from noon until 12:30, and then will be at the Baywatch feature in The Water's Edge Pub, Cottage Country, until 3pm.

Brenda has juggled meeting boaters with media, including:
Watch What's Happening on The Lake

Our Indoor Lake Live Webcam captures all of the action on the world's largest indoor lake for boaters, right up until closing Sunday, when The Lake transitions back to the Toronto Marlies' home ice!
150 Polar Bear Dippers Expected to
Go Jump in The Lake This Morning

After cancelling the 2018 Polar Bear Dip for the first time in its 13-year history due to unsafe ice conditions, the Toronto Polar Bear Club enthusiastically accepted our invitation to "do the dip" in the world's largest indoor lake!

At 9am this morning, up to 150 polar bear dippers are expected to take the plunge into the bone-chilling water of The Lake - marking the first time the dip does not take place in Lake Ontario.

Toronto Polar Bear Club members have raised more than $28,000 this year in support of Boost CYAC, a charity committed to eliminating abuse and violence in the lives of children, youth and their families.
NEW - Stand-up Paddle Board Races
& SUP Polo Games

Starting at 10am today, the finest racers from Toronto's stand-up paddleboard (SUP) community gather to battle for top honours on The Lake!

Click here for heat, race and polo game times.
Will Call - Help Us, Help You

Help us better serve your customers by bringing requests - such as updated badge/credentials lists or Will Call tickets - to the Show Office at the end of the day when lines are shortest.

This allows sufficient time to ensure Will Call tickets are ready and waiting when your customers arrive the following morning.

Please print legibly, and arrange large numbers of Will Calls by last name, in alphabetical order, to avoid processing delays.
Security Reminders - Remain Vigilant

There is a 24-hour perimeter security in the building, but please do NOT leave valuable items unattended in your booth.

Be especially careful with easily portable items such as money, cameras, purses, cellphones, computers, and other electronic devices.

At close of each show day, it would be wise to lock up portable items and cover anything that might tempt a potential thief.

As stated in the Exhibitor Kit, you should ensure your insurance policy covers equipment during shows.

Do Not Prop Doors Open
Using unauthorized doors could set off alarms, and "propping doors open" (for a smoke break or quick run to the car, etc.) invites security issues including thefts and vandalism at displays.

Access Outside Regular Show Hours
If you plan to meet customers prior to show opening and escort them onto the show floor, please advise the Show Office so we can make appropriate arrangements for access outside regular show hours.
NEW Manitoba Drive Exhibitor Entrance at Rear of Industry Building

Door 29, which is clearly marked with signage, is the new exhibitor entrance for those entering the show from Manitoba Drive. Please do not prop doors open.
Manitoba Drive &
Underground Parking Warning

Please note that exhibitors entering the show from Manitoba Drive must park in designated parking lots only - and those parking outside designated lots (at docks or emergency exits, for example) will be ticketed.

Vehicles left overnight in underground parking, without proper passes on display (after 3am), will also be ticketed.
Twiggy Entertains
at the Food Truck Court

Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel is back - wowing boat show visitors, while providing PR buzz and value for the Toronto Boat Show!

If talking to boaters enroute to see Twiggy, please direct them to the Food Truck Court, adjacent to Mariner's Marketplace.

Twiggy performs:
  • Sundays: 11:30am, 2pm & 4pm
  • Weekdays: 2:30pm & 6pm
  • Saturday: 11:30am, 2pm, 4pm & 5:30pm
Take a Break in the Exhibitor Lounge

Located in Salon 102 (just west of the Show Office), the Exhibitor Lounge offers a quiet break from the show, FREE internet service, a microwave for your use, soup, salad, sandwiches, a hot dish of the day, and a selection of beverages.

Today's hot dish is beef stew with mashed potatoes for $14.50.
