After many months of planning and organizing, the Bonita Springs National Art Festival finally arrives to
Riverside Park in historic old Bonita Springs. The Festival’s prestigious juried art show includes a wide variety of media such as paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, handcrafted wood, ceramics, glass, and more – all by 200 National and International finest artists.

#1 Spotlight on sculptor Nnamdi Okonkwo
Nnamdi Okonkwo is a talented Nigerian sculptor who lives with his wife and family in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Okonkwo says of his work, “In my indigenous culture as well as in many cultures, womanhood is venerated. There is an understanding that women share, even in a small way, with the creator, the sacred act of giving life. Perhaps this understanding of the dignity of womanhood inspires me to seek to honor women in my sculpture.”
His work is represented in galleries across the country.

#2 Spotlight on Award of wood turner John Mascoll
Wood turner John Mascoll knew how to use a hammer and a chisel before he could talk. He learned to value quality work from his father, carpenter and shipwright in the Caribbean country of Barbados.
"I am inspired by things that have greatly influenced thought processes - nature, travel, family, cultural diversity, the workmanship of things made, memories and experiences of the past, artists whose works I admire, and my engineering background. Therefore, I strive to continually present this creative experience through my work that connects these processes, making them real".

#3 Spotlight on Maine artist Anne Wooster
Anne Wooster has been an artist and nature lover since she painted her entire body at the age of two. A Waldoboro native, she took art lessons from established artists and attended Medomak Valley High School before matriculating at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.
Today, Anne devotes herself to art full-time, gathering the subjects and material for her prints from her gardens, her friends’ gardens, and the local fields, forest and seashore. “Art is a necessary expression of the beauty in my life.”

#4 Spotlight on Internationally-recognized sculptor John Zidek
John is an internationally-acclaimed sculptor who has worked over the years in numerous mediums, including bronze, wood, resin, ultra-violet minerals, and a line of gold and sterling silver jewelry.
John’s wall sculptures combine fabricated copper and hand-blown glass. Zidek is also experimenting with floor, pedestal, lighting, water features and wind sculptures.
A Professional Level Member of the International Sculpture Center, Zidek periodically exhibits in International Art Expo New York.

#5 Spotlight on Naples artist Edward Park
It is difficult enough to master one genre, but Park is accomplished in three. Take a jaunt around his booth this weekend and you will quickly find that he is equally adept at impressionism, realism and abstract art.
A graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design who also studied at the Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art in France, Park has been painting for half a century. Today, he is acclaimed internationally for brilliant color combinations and remarkable palette knife technique.

#6 Spotlight on pottery artists Scott and Jenny Martin
Lifelong Michigan resident and full time artists, Scott and Jennifer Martin, turned their inner passion into beautiful works of functional pottery and decorative art.
The pottery is hand created and representative of the appreciation of the beauty that is Michigan. From mixing dry clay, to creating custom glazes, to firing and discovering the treasures inside the kiln, Scott and Jenny combines their artists eye and understanding of the raw materials into each piece. Their pottery is the extension of the drive to create functional pieces that will enhance a table, wall, or mantle.

Borelli Bags was formed in 1989 through the collaborated efforts of Frank Borelli and Pamela England. Their unique designs, compositions and execution created a collection of one of a kind and limited edition exotic and traditional leather handbags.

#8 Spotlight on artwear designer Margaret Koop
As a fiber artist and designer, Peggy uses the finest silks, the softest wools, and the sheerest cotton to create wearable art pieces you can immediately touch and wrap yourself in to enhance any outfit on any occasion.
Peggy enjoys working with color, carefully hand-dyeing yards of fabric and then enhancing her work with embroidery, printing, and silk-screened surface design. She continues to explore the visual effects she can create on cloth by experimenting with various surface design techniques.

#9 Spotlight on fine hand crafted jewelry artist Jayne DeMarcay
"My designs are composed of precious metals, and are accented with intricate hand engraving and semi-precious stones. I incorporate bold shapes, clean lines, and contrasting textures within an abstract frame.
My jewelry creates casual elegance with a timeless appeal. All of my pieces can be worn with ease, whether you are wearing blue jeans, business casual, or a cocktail dress."

#10 Spotlight on fine artist Diane S. Dean
Award winning artist, Diane Dean, works in acrylic, mixed media/collage and encaustic (melted bees wax).
Though she has been painting for over twenty years, she spent much of her professional life in the graphic arts technology field. Throughout her career, Diane has presented seminars and lectures in graphic design concepts, color theory and the use of technology in the development of visual communications.

The Riverside Park location offers ample free parking on site with wine, beer, food, and beverages available for purchase and live music to enjoy while you view and purchase fine art. While there is no admission fee for this event, the Centers for the Arts of Bonita Springs volunteers will be asking for an optional donation, directly supporting the Centers for the Arts programming.
