Ms. Gillette received her Master's degree in Health Systems Management from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is currently Senior Consultant and is now full time with G&E after retiring from Tulane Medical Center as the VP of Transplant.

Transplant Administration Award Winner

We at Guidry & East are so proud to announce Gene Ridolfi, MHA, RN , as the winner of the 2017 Deedle Heckenkemper Leader in Transplant Administration Award. In honor of Mr. Ridolfi 's dedication and diligence in transplant administration, we bestow our greatest award.


As the leading authority in transplant, Deedle Heckenkemper helped pioneer the specialty of transplant administration. His career spanned 40 years and he was the co-founder of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network / United Network for Organ Sharing (OPTN/UNOS) Transplant Administrator's Committee. Deedle died unexpectedly in 2011. The award is named in recognition of his pioneering efforts in the field of Transplant Administration. 
UNOS Staffing Survey Closes on May 31, 2017

If you are not the person responsible for completing the survey, please share this article with the appropriate person at your organization. The UNOS staffing survey gives transplant centers valuable information they can use to compare staffing resources. Please do your part because the more participants we have, the more valuable the data.As in previous years, only programs that complete surveys for their organ-specific programs will have access to the summary and comparison data. We expect data to be available in or around June 2017.

Quarterly Update of Standardized Benchmark Reports Available

Last November, UNOS research staff made data available to transplant professionals in a fresh new way by enabling them to access standard benchmark reports directly from UNetSM. The next quarterly update of this information is now available, which includes a snapshot of the waiting list at the end of March 31, 2017 and transplant data from Jan. 1, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2016.

OPTN/UNOS Policy Notice Modifications to Informed Consent Requirements for Potential Living Donors

Since requirements for the informed consent of living kidney, liver, intestine, lung and pancreas donors were initially implemented, several new developments indicate the need to update and clarify the current informed consent policy requirements.

TransNet
  • Effective 6/1/2017 - TransNet required for all organs except VCA
  • Effective 11/1/2017 - TransNet required for VCA organs
On May 24, 2017 , the TransNet team will release version 5.5, which allows a donor case that was originally packaged and labeled by another OPO to be imported to TransNet. This functionality will be released to the training environment for our OPO TransNet users on May 10. Also on May 10, TransNet OPO users will receive an email with help documentation and test case labels.

Chief, Transplant Surgery
Transplant Leadership Institute has been retained by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, to identify and recruit a Surgical Director for their growing kidney, kidney/ pancreas and heart transplant programs.   The ideal candidate should be mid to senior in their career and have completed a two-year fellowship in an ASTS-certified transplant surgery fellowship program. The candidate will ideally have experience in living donor, kidney (adult and pediatric), pancreas transplantation as well as vascular access.
This position will include competitive salary based on academic rank and a comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, CME, relocation assistance and paid malpractice insurance.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) is a 965-bed academic medical center with campuses in New Brunswick and Somerville, NJ. Its Centers of Excellence include cardiovascular care from minimally invasive heart surgery to transplantation, cancer care, stroke care, neuroscience, joint replacement, and women's and children's care.
As the principal teaching hospital of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, RWJUH is an innovative leader in advancing state-of-the-art care with a Level 1 Trauma Center and the first Pediatric Trauma Center in the state.  In 2016, Barnabas Health and Robert Wood Johnson Health System announced the merger of their two health systems to form the most comprehensive health system in the state of New Jersey - RWJBarnabas Health. The partnership creates a new organization that will reach approximately 5 million people - more than half of the state's population - and that will advance the health of the region.

Director of Transplant Services  
Wake Forest Baptist Health is seeking a Director of Transplant Services for its kidney, pancreas and heart transplant programs. The Director reports to the Vice President, Clinical Operations to provide primary direction for the administration and clinical operations of Transplant Services. Responsibilities include financial management, budgeting, managed care contracting, operational efficiencies, personnel management, coordination of administrative matters, strategy and marketing functions. The Director is responsible for overseeing the operations of the clinical practice and for ensuring that all policies and procedures are appropriately implemented and that compliance with them is consistent.
The Director also provides support in the provision of quality patient care, patient flow, and patient experience. This includes ensuring that compliance is maintained with all relevant regulatory and oversight bodies to include TJC, CMS, UNOS, and others as applicable.
Requirements for the position are:
Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Care or Business Administration
Five years progressive experience a leadership role in solid organ Transplant Services (may include roles such as QAPI Manager, Clinical Manager or Transplant Administrator or assistant.
Three years of direct management and supervisory experience in an applicable role
RN, allied health professional, or relevant clinical discipline preferred
