What do you eat for breakfast?  For lunch?  Dinner?

Don't let "social norms" define you, or how you eat!  One of the most liberating things I've done is realize I don't have to eat eggs for breakfast.  Or have a sandwich for lunch.

The goal is to get a vegetable at every meal, a decent amount of protein, and complex carbs (as necessary).  Ideally: half your plate in veggies, 1/4 in protein, the remaining in the complex carbs.

The tip: do it for all three meals.

An example:

Breakfast: Salmon and asparagus
Lunch: Chicken and snap peas. or a salad
Dinner: Steak and green beans with mashed cauliflower
(rice/sweet potato/quinoa can also be added as necessary for the carbs; minimize the simple, "white" carbs like bread or pasta!)

BUT, to beat a dead horse, if you happen to WANT eggs for breakfast, go for it.  But if you don't have eggs, don't be stunted.  You're good.  Veggies, protein, and some complex carbs like oatmeal or quinoa, and VOILA: you've got yourself a meal, and a yummy one at that!

Client SPOTLIGHT

Meet Mindy Hewitt.  Typically, we modify these into an article format, but she's outdone herself with this testimony, and we're humbled, and grateful.  Thank you Mindy; we look forward to continuing to help you grow and develop, and be the amazing person you are!
"I grew up in a tiny town in central New York, West Winfield. It's dairy farms and plow-patched fields are quite a change from this city of Suffolk I currently reside in. At a young age, I married into the military;  and since then, they've moved us coast to coast.  This is actually my second time choosing Suffolk as our town to live in. I continue to choose Suffolk for it's small town appeal and sense of community. I'm a huge fan of loving local!

"I learned about C-FIT when it opened. We were attending an event in downtown, and I had known Connie as an instructor from her days at the YMCA. I loved her classes -- there's still no yoga class that holds a candle to hers! I decided to come in and see the gym and catch up, as it had been some time since I had seen her.  I started dropping into her yoga classes, and by the fall, my other half got me the best gift ever! He bought me a personal training package.

"In just twelve short weeks, I already was seeing more changes than I did during my 10-month struggle with the program the YMCA had me on. C-FIT changed my life in so many ways, and four-and-a-half years later, it still does! I've seen weaknesses diminish to be replaced by strengths.

"One of the biggest life lessons I learned was that it's okay to put my health as a top priority.  As a parent, most of the time you put yourself on the back burner to take care of everyone else. I remember being tired a lot, eating horribly and just feeling spent. No more! If I'm tired, it's because I'm physically tired! I am now able to run short races; I have run half marathons, lifted close to three hundred pounds (so close!!), and I can keep up with my family, and still have time to start a baking business. My food choices have even changed.  Do I have horrible eating days? Of course; I'm human! Many times though, I find myself choosing the better option because I work hard to stay in shape and want to keep it up. BEST GIFT EVER!!  I even started bringing my kids to training.  Moody teens that they can be, I hope I am instilling healthy habits, helping them build strength and body awareness.

I love C-FIT.  They welcome when you come in, and I can't tell you the number of times I've texted Jeremy, or James, Jessica, Jean and Connie asking advice, with questions on everything from foods, to products, to even natural solutions! They come back with answers pretty quick, and if it's not at hand, within a day or so, they give an abundance of info that is needed.  THEY MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE FAMILY! You're not a number; that speaks volumes to me. They truly have a well-rounded knowledgeable team, and the days I go there are my favorite days of the week. No matter how I enter that building, I walk out feeling like a million bucks! You don't get that feeling everywhere.

For any new-comers, I would say talk to a trainer.  There is never a loss investing in yourself. A better, healthier you can lead to so many benefits. There is so much information and stuff out there, it gets hard to weed through it all, and everyone gives advice. But really, talk to a trainer; they can build a program for just you. Build a healthy relationship with someone who has your physical health as a priority... Last but definitely not least, if someone is making your health a priority, you need to as well; treat it like an appointment. Over the four-and-a-half years training so far, I can count on both hands the number of sessions I've missed, because it has become that important.

I always recommend C-FIT to friends looking to improve their over all health. That little gym has so much to offer that you can't get anywhere else; they don't push things on you or try to sell you things you don't need to meet goal requirements. They're amazing people armed with knowledge and skill to help take your body to its best health. It was the best thing I ever did walking in that door, and I'm more than happy to tell everyone that has an interest. "
