The Luther College Concert Band, under the direction of Joan deAlbuquerque, will tour and perform in concert venues around Spain May 23-June 3. The ensemble's performance itinerary includes stops in the Spanish cities of Getafe, Cullera, Buñol, Puerto de Santa Maria and Ubeda with additional travel to Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Granada, Toledo and Cordoba. The band will perform works by Leonard Bernstein, Rossano Galante, John Phillip Sousa and Joseph Turrin.
Thaddeus Guy, Luther senior from Des Moines, Iowa, has received the Emery O. Nordness Memorial Award for Business for the 2017-18 academic year. Presented annually to a Luther senior majoring in accounting, business, economics or management, the Emery O. Nordness Memorial Award for Business was established by Alan R. and Sally J. Brudos in appreciation of Emery O. Nordness, for his loving wisdom as a music and band teacher in Viroqua, Wisconsin.

The Luther College Symphony Orchestra and the Nordic Choir will present a spring showcase concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. The Symphony Orchestra will perform a program featuring "Huapango" by José Pablo Moncayo, "Adagietto," from Symphony No. 5 by Gustav Mahler and "Boléro" by Maurice Ravel. The Nordic Choir will present a program featuring pieces by Charles Woods, J.A.C. Redford, Daniel Elder and more.
The Luther College Concert Band and Jazz Orchestra will perform a spring showcase concert at
1:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 20, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. Concert Band is directed by Joan deAlbuquerque and the Jazz Orchestra is directed by Tony Guzmán. Those unable to attend may view the concert live online.
