Appalachian Mission Team Forming

April 30 – May 5 OR May 7 – May 12
(Dates depend on team formation around either date)

This year, our Appalachian Missions Team will be providing rebuilding assistance to those devastated by last year's floods around Greenbriar WV, or assist with sub-standard housing around Brenton, WV or Jonesville, VA. Our team will decide the location! 

Cost will be either $100 or $260, depending on location of trip. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due no later than  THIS Sunday,  March 26 and is required to secure your spot!

New Bible Studies

What Are You Seeking?
Begins Wednesday, March 29  |  6:30 p.m.  |  Room 207

There is a new class starting on Wednesday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m. Led by Janice Denton, this class entitled “What Are You Seeking?” is an open forum for people to ask questions about faith, the church, the Bible and anything else. Let’s learn and grow in faith and understanding together. Class will be using the book "What's the Least I Can Believe and Still Be a Christian?”

On March 29 at 6:30 p.m.Kendra Cardwell will begin teaching "Anonymous: Discovering the Somebody You Are to God". Anonymous helps women discover their uniqueness and significance to Christ by exploring some of the "anonymous" women of the Bible. Each week, of this six-session study begins with an overview of the anonymous woman's story.

Broken and Blessed
Begins Monday, April 3  |  10 a.m.

Broken and Blessed” is a six-week Bible study on the book of Genesis, and will begin Monday, April 3, 10 a.m., at the home of Rita Vutsinas.

Holy Week
HUMC will participate in Holy Week services at Andrew Price UMC (2846 Lebanon Pike 37214) on  Wednesday, April 12 at Noon

Every day of Holy Week at noon there will be a special service with different liturgists and preachers at Andrew Price UMC.

Celebrate Recovery 12 Steps
This spring, Celebrate Recovery will begin a study group based on the 12 Steps and its related Scriptures as the Biblical model for living your life. This men's and women’s study will help you work through your hurts, habits, and hang-ups through each of the Twelve Steps. Step Studies are a long-term commitment to the members of the group. The participation guides will be available the night we start. $5/book or $15/all 4 books.

Classes are open to everyone, regardless of whether or not they are interested in becoming a certified lay servant. For those who are or wish to be a certified lay servant, remember that you must take a course beyond the basic course at least once every 3 years.

    *The "Life After Divorce" class is designed for those who are walking through separation and divorce. There is a $15 fee for materials.

    **Griefshare: This is a 13-week program of grief education for people who have lost a loved one. There are weekly videos with helpful information and clips from grief experts and people experiencing a variety of losses. There is also some opportunity for discussion with other people who are grieving. Cost is for the course is $15. Scholarships and childcare are available by request.
