She will assume her role July 1"We are excited to have such a tremendous administrator and person join the Cedar Falls Community School District", Dr. Pattee said.

CFHS Rocket Club Placed 5th in National Finals
The Cedar Falls High School Rocket Club traveled to Washington, D.C. to compete in the 15th annual National Finals of the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) ( www.rocketcontest.org ). More than 800 teams competed throughout the school year for a spot in the Top 100. The 100 best teams in the country met on May 13th and competed for the title of National Finals Champions. The Cedar Falls Rocket Club placed 5th overall (receiving $9,000), but also took home 1st place in the Balsa Airplane Building contest that took place during the day while students weren't launching. The contest requires students to build and fly a rocket that carries a raw hen's egg  to 775 ft. with an overall flight time of 41 to 43 seconds, and bring the egg back safely. One point is given for each foot you are off from the 775 ft (high or low), and four points are given for every second you are outside of the two second window.  The goal is then to get a perfect score of zero. Our team was able to score 11 points and first place had a score of 6. Scores ranged anywhere from 6 to 150 during the finals. There are so many factors/variables that the students had to account for and adapt to in order to score so well at a launch site they had never been to.

Champions of Character
Congratulations to
Elementary Educator of Character: Marit Beisner, Cedar Heights Elementary
Junior High Educator of Character: Angela Wittmer, Holmes Junior High

The Cedar Valley held its annual Champions of Character award ceremony to celebrate individuals and organizations that have demonstrated commitment to positive character development.  The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University serves as the central base of Iowa's Character Counts, and the program is directed by Waterloo native Scott Raecker.  An important element of Character Counts is positive role modeling where all stakeholders in the community share the same commitment to positive character development. Character Counts is a national ethics program for young people based on six pillars of character. It was founded in 1996 by the Josephson Institute Center for Youth Ethics in California and introduced to Iowa schools the very next year thanks to former Iowa Gov. Robert D. Ray.

Senior Breakfast
Congratulations 2017 Graduates!  The Cedar Falls Schools Foundation will continue its tradition of partnering with Senior Leadership by paying for the graduation rehearsal breakfast of each senior that signs in to the CF Alumni Network. We will also place a list of all sponsors and tributes given in honor of those students on the breakfast tables.

If you would like to give a sponsor gift, or honor a graduate at the senior breakfast, please click here to donate. Any gift amount is welcomed.

Thank you for helping us make it possible for every graduate to attend!
Graduation Walk
This year we are beginning a new tradition in Cedar Falls Schools - Graduation Walk! This is an opportunity for seniors to walk the halls in their caps and gowns at their elementary alma maters. Following commencement rehearsal on Friday, May 26, all the seniors will have the opportunity to board buses and travel to their elementary alma mater to be greeted by students and teachers who will line the halls to celebrate the seniors' accomplishments. We hope this will show appreciation to teachers and inspire younger students! Senior students and parents - seniors will not need their cap/gown for practice, but will need it for the Graduation Walk.
