Century Cycles Bike To School Challenge
Bike To School Challenge Logo

The biggest bike-to-school program in the nation is back!

The Century Cycles Bike to School Challenge begins on May 1, 2017, with events in Bay Village, Medina, and Rocky River.

From May 1 through May 19, over 5,000 students at seven schools will take the challenge. Using daily bike counts and surveys to gauge participation, the students are gearing up to compete for prizes and hope to beat last year's impressive records.

Sponsors Century Cycles and Giant Bicycles (with help from Mellion Orthodontics) will award Giant bikes to students as prizes, along with prizes from other local and national sponsors.

The Bike To School Challenge returns to Bay Middle School in Bay Village for its 10th Anniversary year! The Challenge also returns to Westerly Elementary in Bay Village, Rocky River Middle School and Kensington Elementary in Rocky River, and A.I. Root Middle School, Claggett Middle School, and H.G. Blake Elementary School in Medina!

To help get you and your family ready, we've organized community Bicycle Fairs in Bay Village and Rocky River, and a Bike To School Night at our Medina store! For the full schedule of events at all three communities and all seven schools, go to:

Our ever-popular  Night Rides on the Towpath Trail are BACK for our 23rd season! The rides start promptly at  8:00pm  from the parking lot of the  Peninsula  store. Arrive earlier to have plenty of time to find parking, get yourself and your bike ready, and check in.

Our Night Rides are FREE, open to all ages and skill levels, and take place on the car-free Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. They are about 14 miles long, which usually takes about an hour and a half to two hours. You must have your own bicycle, headlight, and helmet.
