Marine Corps Veteran to Speak about U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA) Services at Kiwanis
Club Luncheon

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Woodbury invites the public to attend a presentation about the Center City Vet Center by Veterans Outreach Program Specialist Edward McEvoy on January 11, 2018.

Born and raised in Glassboro, and a graduate of Glassboro High School, McEvoy served in the United States Marine Corps from August 2001 until he received an Honorable Discharge in October 2008. During these years, McEvoy served three tours in Iraq for a transportation company, and achieved the rank of Sergeant.

McEvoy's first tour, which coincided with the 2003 invasion, involved providing Convoy security on route reconnaissance missions. Next, in 2005, the second tour involved convoy security and personal protection for a Battalion Commander. Finally, during the third tour in 2008, McEvoy served as Platoon Sergeant for a transportation company.

In January 2015, McEvoy joined the VA. As Veterans Outreach Program Specialist, McEvoy's coverage area extends to 3 counties in Pennsylvania (Philadelphia County, Delaware County, and Chester County) and 3 counties in New Jersey (Gloucester County, Camden County, and Burlington County).

Before joining the VA, McEvoy earned a degree in Political Science from Coastal Carolina University. In addition, McEvoy was an EMT for Gloucester County EMS, and a Police Officer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Furthermore, McEvoy is a former Volunteer Firefighter for Harmony Fire Company in Mullica Hill, and the Glassboro Fire Department.

The presentation on January 11 will be about Center City Vet Center services. These include mental health counseling for War Zone Veterans and their families. The Vet Center also provides services to Veterans who have experienced Military Sexual Trauma while on active duty.

The meeting starts at 12:00 pm on January 11, at Charlie Brown's, 111 N Broad Street. An optional lunch is available for $13.00, including the famous Unlimited Farmer's Market Salad Barâ„¢.
