From Around the Farm Table

Pull Up a Chair
After growing up on her family's dairy farm on the West Coast, making cheese on the East Coast, Inga Witshcer is thrilled to be living in the middle of the country, home to truly happy cows and a vibrant agriculture which she loves to celebrate on  Around the Farm Table . The Wisconsin Public Television show is designed to heighten our understanding of sustainable farming practices through stories, recipes, and information - all delivered with a dose of fun, entertainment, and original music. On this visit to the library Inga is cooking up some tasty treats for us to sample. We will also learn how to turn rhubarb into a delightful cocktail and nettles into a delicious soup! Join us on Thursday, May 18th, at 6:30pm!

Get Ready for
Summer Reading!
This summer's theme, Build a Better World, will encourage us to look our homes, community, and the planet. We officially kick-off summer reading with our Annual Ice Cream Social on June 11th. More info to come!

And now, Linda's update:
The month of May sometimes feels like the calm before the storm of the library's annual summer reading program. But I will let you in on a little secret - we actually love the busy chaos of kids and their grownups coming to the library for fun things to do, watch, and read.

Before we dive in to all that, though, we have celebrations to attend. Our Kindergarten friends will be getting their library cards to celebrate learning how to read. Children will be coming on field trips to the library and learning where to find the favorite series we read during the now-almost-completed school year. Eighth graders at Peace Lutheran School will be graduating and moving on to bigger high schools. Awards Night at Green Lake High School will see thousands of dollars of scholarship money awarded to graduates - including two scholarships funded by the Friends of the Library. I guess May isn't so quiet after all.

June will definitely grab her share of attention with programs and activities both in and outside the library. Let's enjoy May while we can.

Thanks for reading. I hope we see you soon.

Linda DeNell, Director
Caestecker Public Library
