Hello
Nationally and locally, the arts generate significant economic impact and help drive private investment. Places like Austin, TX and Asheville, NC are noted examples of places using the arts to create jobs and attract visitors and businesses. Frederick is also being noticed in a big way for its cool arts vibe. Just this past week the Washington Post recognized the amazing
Sky Stage project and artist Heather Clark for its unique contribution to Frederick.
DED is a proud supporter of Sky Stage and other arts related organizations including the
Frederick Arts Council,
Weinberg Center for the Arts,
Delaplaine Center for Visual Arts,
Maryland Ensemble Theater,
Way Off Broadway, and
New Spire Arts just to name a few. We are also bullish on Frederick’s designation as an official Maryland Arts and Entertainment District (A&E) which not only helps promote Frederick as an A&E destination for visitors, but also provides tax credits for the arts and artists.
As fair weather approaches, support your local arts by taking in a show, visit a gallery, or take a class. The arts are good for the economy and the soul.
Best,
