Dear Parents and Guardians,

"Think about it: When we are too self-confident, we are more fragile - much more fragile. Always with the Lord, with the Lord! And when we say "with the Lord," we mean with the Eucharist, with the Bible, with prayer...but also with the family, with our mother, also with her, because she is the one who brings us to the Lord; she is the mother, she is the one who knows everything."
Pope Francis, May 18, 2013

100TH ANNIVERSARY of Our Lady of Fatima/May Procession
On May 22nd, our school will (weather permitting) observe the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima. During our devotional observance, we will process with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima around the exterior of our school building.  While processing, we will sing Marian hymns and pray devotional prayers to Our Lady of Fatima.  The procession will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Following the procession 2 students who have recently received their First Holy Communion will crown a statue of Our Lady.  All are invited to attend.

BOOST

Benefits of a Catholic School Education
The following came to us from Mrs. Abby Clark (Parent of MBS students Christian, Caiden and Grace).

"Mr. Record and Mrs. MacPherson,
I meant to share this earlier and neglected to write this email.  My memory was jogged this evening as Caiden and I attended St. Ann's rehearsal for his 1st Holy Communion.  A few weeks ago, kids receiving their 1st Holy Communion at St. Ann's or Our Lady of Guadalupe attended a retreat at the church.  It was a very large group of children.
I must say how proud I was of the 4 MBS students (Carly, Tripp, Lyla and Caiden) that day.  The DRE, Father Klevance and Father Castello quizzed the group on various topics about the Bible and the Catholic Church.  Your MBS students knew every answer at every turn.  Their eager hands waved endlessly in hopes of answering the questions that others didn't know.
I was quietly proud and so impressed as were all the adults in attendance.
Just thought you should know....they definitely know their stuff!  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!"

Thank you, Mrs. Clark for your positive feedback!

Counseling Corner
This past week, I met with grades Pre-4, K and 1 st.  We did a lesson on Self-Control, which is the Fruit of the Holy Spirit this month.  I showed a video called, "On the Farm/Preschool/I can show self-control."  This video discussed the importance of thinking before we act.  This video reminded everyone that God gave us the 10 Commandments to help us with self-control.  We discussed examples of times we need to practice self-control.  I stressed the importance of using our words when we are stressed, mad or frustrated.  We practiced breathing to calm down and gain self-control in times of need.
Last week, the 8 th grade had a presentation from the Jesse Klump Memorial Foundation.  Please look over their website for more information about this great organization.  http://www.choosetolivemaryland.org/
The 8 th grade heard information about the suicide rates in the area, warning signs that people may be giving if they are thinking about suicide and how to reach out for help if they or their friend are in need.  The students left with the MD Youth Crisis Line, which is 1-800-422-0009, their website is http://www.help4mdyouth.org/
The NetFlix series, 13 Reasons Why, came up in conversation.  A note from Kim Klump went home to all 8 th graders about this series.  If you need any information about this series please contact me at [email protected] .  The pro's, it is opening a door of conversation about Mental Health and suicide.  The con's, it is heavy, graphic content, among some other criticisms.  It is highly recommended that if your child is watching this, you are watching it with them to discuss what is being seen.

Health Suite News
Dear Parents:
The Religious Education curriculum for our Catholic Diocese of WilmingtonBecoming Disciples, includes instruction for students in the area of family life and that includes human reproduction.  On Monday, May 15th, our students in  5th grade will be taught the Family Life unit of instruction as part of their religious education.  The instruction in the area of human reproduction will be provided by our school nurse, Mrs. Carlson for the girls and Dr. Cory Carpenter for the boys.  The curriculum that will be taught has been approved by the Diocese and the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and the materials being used are those associated with our Religious Education textbook.

Please understand that the focus of the instruction is found in the Church's teaching that our bodies are temples of God's love and that we are obligated to treat our bodies and the bodies of others with respect and reverence. Human reproductive organs are explained as the means by which love is shared in a marital relationship. Abstinence, until marriage, is taught as our obligation to show respect for our bodies and the bodies of others. The birth process is explained as the culmination of God's love for us, His people. This is an excellent instructional program that is infused with reference to Sacred Scripture and the Church's teachings on chastity and modesty. The specific materials to be used are available for your review and inspection in the office.

Please note: Parents will receive two copies of the parental permission form, one to keep at home and one to be returned to school by May 8th.

St. Jude the Apostle
ADORATION OF THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT,EXPOSED UPON THE ALTAR AROUND THE CLOCK,
FROM MONDAY 6 AM UNTIL SATURDAY 12 NOON, AND ON SUNDAY FROM 11 AM TO 7 PM
AT ST. JUDE THE APOSTLE PARISH ADORATION CHAPEL 152 TULIP DRIVE, LEWES, DE 19958

Do you feel called to spend some quiet time with Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament?

St. Jude the Apostle Parish is humbly grateful for the gift of perpetual adoration - for the several thousands of visits per month to our Eucharistic Chapel.
You do not have to be a member of St. Jude's to come and adore, nor do you have to be formally assigned to an hour of adoration to participate. You can come to the chapel any time, day or night - whether for a few minutes, an hour, or more - where Jesus Our Savior waits to speak with you, to hear and to answer your praise and gratitude, your sorrows, joys, and petitions.
We thank Our Eucharistic Lord and His Mother for the very large and generous response to the call to adore Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, which will continue to bring immeasurable blessings to those who adore, to our parishes, the Church, and the world. And we thank the many, many persons who come to the Chapel around the clock to worship Our Eucharistic Lord.
If you do feel led to sign up for a specific hour of adoration, please call 302-703-2419 to make that arrangement.

"Every holy hour we make so pleases the Heart of Jesus that it is recorded in heaven and retold for all eternity." Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta

"Jesus Himself is calling you to spend one special hour with him each week." Saint Pope John Paul II

Vision Statement

Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School provides rigorous and technologically relevant instruction that is intentionally integrated with Catholic identity.  Together, as Pastors, administrators, teachers and parents, we nurture the development of the mind, the body, and the soul, in each of our students.  Our students are able to make sound decisions based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ and modeled upon the lives of the saints.  As a faith and learning community, we teach students a passion for the truth and a love for discovery and knowledge. Our students are prepared to relate their Catholic faith to their culture and actively live their faith as members of the greater community.
