Welcome to the 2017 Dickson Endurance & Iron Nugget Sprint Triathlons!  Please review the race schedule below. Also included below are some race reminders.  
 
RACE LOCATION - Montgomery Bell State Park, 1000 Hotel Ave, Burns, TN   - Swim area is right turn just before hotel. Park in the 3 lower lots. Overflow will be .25 mile away along road to Inn.
 
Directions: From Interstate 40: Take Exit 182 (Fairview / Dickson Hwy. 96). Turn to go West on Hwy. 96. Stay on Hwy. 96 until it dead ends at Hwy. 70. Turn right (East) on Hwy. 70, off-ramp provided. Stay on Hwy. 70 approximately 3 miles. Main Park Entrance is on the right.
 
Note: It is recommended all athletes preview courses prior to the event(s).  Bike & run courses will be marked Thursday, May 5th. Please drive the bike course & drive or ride the run course to know each thoroughly. 
 
Event Switching: A few folks SWITCH from one event to the other prior to start.  PLEASE LET US KNOW NOW IF YOU ARE SWITCHING. Note: You can't switch mid-race (rats!).

We will be using the  LIVE RESULTS via RunSignUp.com for the Montgomery Bell events. Your finish and splits times will be available virtually immediately to you, family & friends as times enter our scoring programs.   Please make sure you sign up for text /e-mail notifications here & share address with family and friends. 
 
Finishers medals will be handed out for Iron Nugget & Dickson Endurance races as triathletes finish.  Please see time schedule for awards ceremonies to be held at FINISH LINE.

Beverages and food will be available after the race. Rudy Project gear and other prize drawings will be made prior to and during awards ceremonies. Splits will be available on RESULT KIOSKS set up at finish line.  Go to:  www.EnduranceSportsManagement.com   for PDF results post-event. USAT ranking results will be sent within the 15-day USAT requirements.

USAT Requires SWIM START VERIFICATION. Follow flagging to SWIM ENTRANCE & CROSS MATS. 
Please stay on beach while waiting for swim wave start. USAT rules require this procedure. Wetsuit use will be determined race morning per USAT rules.
 Wet Suits WILL BE ALLOWED 78 DEGREES & under.

START INFORMATION 
shoe area will be near swim exit. Follow carpet in transition lot to bikes. Relays: Relay members swap timing strap / chip at bike rack. Rack with other bikes & follow same rules / routes as individual racers.

Warning:  USAT has found many injuries / fatalities to be caused by failure to WARM UP prior to start. ALL ATHLETES are urged to WARM UP either on land or in the water prior to start. Early season Open Water Swims are notorious for a good SHOCK TO YOUR SYSTEM  - Please warm up prior to start! 

NOTE TRANSITION FLOW OUTLINED BELOW
BIKE TRANSITION AND COURSE: 
Bike racks will be first come. All competitors will be going through the entire transition area. NO RIDING IN THE TRANSITION AREA. Bike will be mounted and dismounted at the transition exit. Six (6) bikes per rack.  Bike course is rolling and circles outside of the park. Please review attached map links below.
 
NOTE: TRANSITION FLOW for 2017 - transition flow will be transition IN & transition OUT - this means you will enter transition from the swim & bike at same point near swim area & exit transition onto bike & run at far end of transition away from water - 
BIKE RETURN WILL BE DOWN CENTER ISLE OF PARKING & DISMOUNT AT SIGNS - Transition lot is EXTREMELY ROUGH  - USE EXTREME CAUTION EXITING & RETURNING TO PARKING LOT.  We'd recommend a heavy beach towel in transition to stand /change on. 
Endurance racers will complete 2 ½ laps around park.  Sprint racers will complete one lap. All bikes exit park out the front entrance -   
ONLY SPRINT RACERS RETURN TO PARK AT FRONT
- ENDURANCE RETURNS AT BACK ENTRANCE at 2 1/2 laps - see course markings prior to event. Please stay to your right ENTIRE COURSE unless passing. Course is open to traffic. 

RUN Course - The runs are completely within the park and both are out & back. All runners will stay RIGHT going out & LEFT coming back. Stay on the side of the road with CONES.  - 
We cannot EMPHASIS THIS ENOUGH -  STAY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH CONES OR RECEIVE A PENALTY - SAFETY IS THE #1 PRIORITY.

Sprint racers will turn around at mile 1.55. Endurance racers will turn around at 3.1 miles (total aid stations 6). BASE Hydro, gels and water will be available at stations 2 & 3.  Remember: RIGHT side going out & LEFT side coming back! 

USAT Info:        ALL USAT RULES APPLY.  See web link to common USAT violations. Remember to stay to the far right unless you are passing someone. Helmets must be ANSI approved and buckled at ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE BIKE.

Upcoming Events
 

The Goose Pond Island Half Iron & Sprint Triathlons return to the Goose Pond Colony Resort, located in Scottsboro, Alabama on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Events are a joint effort of Peak Racing Events of Georgia and Endurance Sports Management of Tennessee. We invite all to come enjoy the beauty and challenge awaiting in our host Northern Alabama venue!
The 1.2 mile swim will be in the pristine waters of Lake Guntersville. 
The 56 mile bike makes use of the natural terrain of the area. Scottsboro is located in the Sequatchie Valley in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The bike route will be fairly flat and fast. 
The 13.1 mile run will leave transition and run along the golf course before turning into the campground beginning two 5.3 mile loops. The run provides views of Lake Guntersville as well as plentiful wildlife. Aid stations will be passed 16 times. 
Sprint race includes a 500 meter Swim, 12 mile Bike & 5K run. Swim will be an in-water start at end of pier with a rectangular course & beach exit. Bike will be similar to the upcoming Frantic Frog loop. Run will also be an out and back route into campground & return to finish by the lake.

The Summer Solstice Tellico Sprint Triathlon has a long history of challenging athletes swimming in clear, cool Tellico Lake, in the bike climbs on Tellico Parkway / Davis Ferry and on the scenic run course allowing you to see & race your competition. 2017 will also include in door prizes from Rudy Project,  Xterra Wetsuits and other vendors. Shirts will be a vibrant color & finishers medals will be waiting as you complete your race!

Enjoy Summers longest days with scenic lake views on a 10K course or choose the Smoky Mountain Service Dog 5K on Saturday, June 17th. The runs take advantage of the longest days of the year with a 8 AM start. Both distances feature finishers medal, vibrant shirts, good food & fun! 5k benefits Smoky Mtn. Service Dog Foundation & has unique shirts and awards.
