A Message from the Principal

"And Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man."
Luke 2:52

Dear Parents,

Congratulations on nearly completing another year as the parent of an elementary-aged child. The routine of practice, homework, family time, teeth brushing, tucking in, waking up, breakfast, lunches, getting dressed, and getting to school on time requires colossal effort. I am tired just thinking about it. For those of you with a Kinder or Fifth Grade student, congratulations on completing a milestone year. I have the pleasure of attending both Kinder and Fifth Grade graduations this year as a proud father.

It is an interesting phenomenon parenting children on both ends of the elementary school experience. For the younger one, every experience is new and awe and inspiring, and for the other there is a sense of confidence and accomplishment knowing that he has worked hard at the tasks put in front of him over the last six years. They are both well prepared for the next steps to come in their young lives.

As a principal, I often think about what we aim to accomplish in the short time we are privileged to teach each child. Obviously, children need a solid academic foundation that challenges them appropriately at their level of learning. VCES values diverse class offerings so that students can explore and discover passion in arts and athletics in addition to academics. My utmost prayer for our students is that they know God and walk with Him each and every day. To watch a child discover their uniqueness and value in the eyes of a loving God is a remarkable sight.

Congratulations again on another successful year parenting some awesome kids!
