Saturday Bird Walk & Bird Count − May 6, 2017
Hot. 75°F. 2-4 mph. 24 participants.

What a difference a week makes! Last Saturday, you may recall, we went birding in the snow and this week felt like a July bird walk. Typical Crazy Colorado Spring Weather, I suppose. The weather is heating up and so are the birds. Lots of recent arrivals establishing their territories this morning. It's getting exciting!

As much as I try to be scientific and unbiased in my Bird of the Day selections, sometimes the most striking or colorful bird wins out. That's what happened today with the selection of the lazuli bunting. It certainly caused a stir amongst the birders when we saw it. And why not, they are striking and this bird was the first of the season for many of us.
