Law Society Learning Centre and Small Firm Practice Course

The Law Society’s Learning Centre is an interactive and informative resource for Alberta lawyers. Our first course offering is the Small Firm Practice Course. While this course is targeted to sole or small firm practitioners, lawyers of any practice setting are welcome to explore the information and take the quizzes.

Designed to be self-paced and self-testing, the Small Firm Practice Course offers modules on key practice areas of interest to sole and small firm practitioners, ranging from practice management to trust accounting to technology issues and various pitfalls of practice. Each module is made up of a textbook, quiz and related resources. It does not attempt to cover a complete knowledge base for each area but rather captures highlights and provides an overview of core concepts. At this time, we have released 10 modules within the Small Firm Practice Course and will be releasing more in the coming months. Additional courses will continue to be developed and added to the Learning Centre over time.

We are working to be more proactive in our regulatory approach, developing comprehensive and relevant materials to support Alberta lawyers in delivering quality legal services.
