Principal's Message

Parents,

Thank you so much to our first grade teachers for presenting at our PTA Meeting, "How to Prevent the Summer Slide."  They had so many good suggestions for keeping skills sharp over the summer break. Please click this link for the Powerpoint slides they shared last night.

Please come see  the work of WCEF in action tomorrow night at Las Lomas Gym 7:00 pm  for the Annual WCSD Instrumental Music Festival.  All bands from fifth grade through eighth grade will perform  under the direction of Mrs. Marks and Mrs. Zigas-Brown.  Come early for a good seat! Remember, when you donate to WCEF, you give a child a place to shine.  If you haven't donated yet, these talented students will definitely encourage  you to give, or give more.

CAFETERIA/LUNCH MONEY
Please note:  Starting 26th May, students will no longer be allowed to borrow money for lunch.  This gives the cafeteria time to collect any outstanding debts.  Any student that does not have money on account or cash in hand will be offered milk, fruit and/or salad from the salad bar.  Please remind your children to bring their money to the office in the morning so the cafeteria manager will have it at lunch time.  Children cannot go back to their classes to get money after they are let out for lunch recess as teachers are not there to let them into the rooms.  Please be sure to settle up any balances owing as soon as possible.  Feel free to call the cafeteria manager, Maggie, at ext. 5051 to get your child's balance. You can also log-in to paypams.com to see balances and purchasing activity.

GREEN FORMS FINAL REMINDER
Green "Are You Returning" forms were due Monday, 5/8.  We are still missing forms from many families.  This information helps us to better plan our classes and staffing for the next school year.  We need to have all forms returned to the office by THIS FRIDAY.
From the PTA President

We had our last PTA meeting of the year last night and it was fantastic!!  I want to thank Paula Rathert, Erica Pitney and Michelle Blank for taking time out of their busy schedules to present on "The Summer Slide."  We all appreciate the great ideas and the hand out you had for us!

Although, we had our last meeting the year is not over yet!!  We have great activities coming up in the last few weeks of the school year.  On June 2nd, we have our end of year Disco Bingo, where we will be honoring Margy Banfield on her retirement.  You won't want to miss out on this one, it is so fun!  Who doesn't like Bingo with M&M's.  DJ Dave will be spinning the tunes, Blush and Shaved Ice will be there too!!

Field Day is coming up on June 5th.  This is such a fun day for everyone.  It takes a lot of time and effort to plan.  Please look for the sign up genius.  We need your help!!

I wish you all a great week!

News from Las Lomas High
Send a Note to a Graduate!

A popular tradition at the Las Lomas All-Knighter is the Post Office.  This is where Seniors receive notes written by friends, family, teachers and staff.  This is an easy way to send a "thinking of you" message, a favorite quote or a congratulatory note to a graduate on graduation night.  Please encourage friends and family members to join you in writing a brief message of congratulations to your graduate!

Email messages to: [email protected] Please include:
  • Student's first and last name in the subject line of email
  • The senders name at the end (so student knows who is sending the message)
Messages will be printed and placed in the graduate's post office box at the All- Knighter.  Also, a collection box will be located in the LL Attendance office for letters.  Please make sure the graduates name is clearly visible.

Letters must be received by Monday, June 5th to insure the graduate will receive them on graduation night. Questions?  Contact Sarah Lewis at [email protected]  or Julie Powell at [email protected]
