Message from the President

The energy sector is one of the largest industrial sectors in the United States. It is comprised of industries such as petroleum, natural gas, electric power, coal, nuclear power, and renewable energy. The initial plan for setting up the division dates to 2013. The demand for industrial and systems engineers in energy industry has been steadily growing. The newly established division is to support this growth. We thank all volunteers for their continued support, and offer special thanks to IISE's Technical Operations Board for the support.

Industrial and systems engineers are involved in all aspects of energy, including oil drilling and refining, gas pipeline transportation and storage, biomass production, power/heat generation and transmission, and gas/electricity markets, energy efficiency, and energy management. Industrial and systems engineers are prepared to solving energy systems problems and lead interdisciplinary studies in energy integration, transportation, manufacturing, and information technology.

If you are working or have interests in the energy-related domain, please join the Energy Systems Division. Division membership is free for all paid members of IISE. The division offers opportunities to develop leadership skills and facilitates networking. We need your participation and grow division activities. As a member, you have the opportunity to join committees, participate in events, and attend conferences.  Thanks for your support and we look forward to meeting with you at the IISE Pitts 2017 Conference!
