Dear Friends of St. Camillus:

Thank you for supporting our 2017 Annual Awards Luncheon at the San Antonio Winery on April 30th!  We appreciate you for being one of our core supporters, and depend greatly on your prayers and donations to continue these sacred ministries.

The Alemany High School String Quartet lifted our hearts, San Antonio's food fed our bodies, Edith’s beautiful flowers enlightened the space, Linda and Gary’s Silent Auction & Opportunity Drawings along with the Winery’s Gift Shop Sales and the Norman Nursery plant sale all made our annual day blessed and full of hope.

We celebrated our honorees, and their accomplishments, but we realize that your contributions sustain us, and without you, we could not “accompany people in the midst of suffering with holistic healing and hope.”

Ever since the Daughters of Charity arrived here in 1855 and began our ministry to the “sick-poor,” which became the St Camillus de Lellis Parish in 1954, we have relied heavily on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Together in Mission funds and other outside grantors.  Unfortunately, none of the hospitals we serve offer any financial support for our chaplain’s salaries.  Our chaplains are at the bedside, journeying with patients and families, often through traumatic, stressful situations, including spiritual anxiety and distress.

By becoming a Friend of St. Camillus personally, business partnerships or with foundation support you help us expand the services we provide to the “the least.”(Matthew 25: 31f)

Our Interfaith presence is a vital part of quality holistic care.  We continue to visit patients 365 days a year and respond to emergency pager calls 24 hours, 7 days a week.  Together we hear the stories of pain and death along with joy and healing. With 18 CPE student units a year, the intern chaplains add over 5400 patient visiting hours per year.

We urge you to continue your vital support of our efforts in 2017-2018:
          1) we complete our accreditation as a ACPE chaplaincy training center,
          2) bring at least one ACPE supervisor in training to St. Camillus and
          3) expand our Sacred Space support gathering for our Trauma One Medical Center staff as part of the hospital’s 2nd Victims of trauma staff care services.

We welcome and appreciate your regular donations, as well as your assistance in finding additional funding.  Planned Giving through wills and estate gifts can help us secure that future generations of chaplains will provide services to our LAC+USC, Norris and Keck Medical Center populations.

God bless you!
