CHANUKAH CELEBRATIONS
Chanukah was celebrated in three parts at the High School. Individual class parties took place
at school or in teachers' homes. The school  wide
Chagigah  began in the evening with "Soup & Salad" and a panel discussion on the subject of "The Power of One", this year's production theme. Panelists were Mrs. Chanie Hendler of the High School, Mrs. Gitti Horowitz of the Middle School, and Mrs. Jacquelyn Sova of Bnos Yisroel. The program continued the next morning with a video and lively dancing. Our Sign Language Classes proudly offered presentations at the program, signing "Oh Chanukah, Oh Chanukah" and other songs.

The faculty enjoyed a beautiful and delicious  Chanukah luncheon, sponsored by Bais Yaakov . Rabbi Shapiro offered an uplifting and motivating message about our work at Bais Yaakov and a wonderful time was had by all.

ASARA B'TEVES ASSEMBLY
The Holocaust, "Churban Europa" was remembered at our annual Asara B'Teves assembly. The students watched the  a powerful documentary produced by the Rabbi Leib Geliebter Memorial Foundation in conjunction with the Zechor Yemos Olam Division of Torah Umesorah to help transmit the legacy of the last survivors to future generations. The video shown, Monsieur,  presents the dramatic story of Rav Yonah Tiefenbrunner, z"l,  and the orphanage he established in Belgium during the Holocaust. Child survivors saved by R' Tiefenbrunner recount stories of courage, mesiras nefesh and Kiddush HaShem

Rabbi Zweig spoke about Mrs. Esther Tendler A"H.  This was followed by an unforgettable "first-person" report by Mrs. Hauptman about growing up in her parents' home and the abiding and unique lessons Mrs. Tendler taught by word and example. Yehi Zichra Baruch
TWELFTH GRADE ELECTIVES
Mrs. Zelinger's ASL Class enjoyed a game of dreidel using only sign language.

Mrs. Schlein's Sociology class had a wonderful opportunity to learn about government from Mr. Yitzy Schleifer, Baltimore City Council Member.

DISCOVERY
Discovery  presented close up pictures of everyday objects and asked the students to
guess what the full picture was. The students found that this is not always easy to do, even when its an object that we see multiple times a day! Discovery  showed the students we need to see the full picture in order to speak with 100% honesty and not just share a small part of the truth.

PRESENTATION ON GOVERNMENT AID OPTIONS FOR SEMINARY
Mr. Shmuel Schachter, of Yeshiva Ner Yisroel, once again presented vital FAFSA information to parents of Twelfth Graders. He clarified the process that would enable their daughters to receive government aid for college credits while studying in seminary in Eretz Yisroel.
