Farmer's Market Starts June 4

The Wicker Park Farmers Market plans to kick off another season on Sunday, June 4th, 2017! For six delicious hours between 8am and 2pm, local vendors will be offering all the best in handmade and homegrown to get the summer started right. Our fresh fruits and veggies, baked goods, meats, cheeses, and flowers will be anything but garden-variety. The market is a great opportunity for kids and adults alike to learn about the food we eat from the farm to our table, straight from the farmer's mouth.

News from the Committees
The SSA #33 Commission meeting is TONIGHT, Wednesday, May 17th, 7 pm at the Wicker Park Field House (1425 N Damen).
The Arts Committee meeting is Tuesday, May 23rd, 9 am, at the WPB office (1414 N Ashland). Join Us!
NEW Neighborhood Safety & Façade Rebate Programs
WPB SSA #33 now provides rebates for security cameras, exterior lighting, repairing broken or graffiti'd windows, and installing anti-smash or anti-graffiti window film. Businesses in the SSA district are eligible for a rebate of 50% of the cost of a neighborhood safety measure, up to $1,000 per measure.
Additionally, SSA rebates are available for façade improvements, up to $5,000. However, the business or building owner MUST now contact the WPB Chamber and get pre-approval before beginning these improvements.

April certainly brought the showers!....so if you want May to bring lots of flowers, used coffee grounds headed for the trash can definitely find a better home in your garden (they can be great for the soil!) Just be sure to spread them out carefully to prevent mold from growing. Newspapers - although recyclable - also can act as mulch or a weed deterrent by laying them flat around your plants.
