Lots of very cool stuff for you this week, including six new articles.

First, though, I want to talk about last week's Digital Production Buzz. We devoted the entire show to Virtual Reality and 360-Video. As you may know, I'm skeptical about the long-term success of both these formats, but last week's show significantly changed my perspective and opinion.

If you are interested in learning more about these new video formats, make a point to listen to the show. Our guests were excellent - informed, well-spoken and passionate about this new technology. I learned so many new things listening to them that I wrote a blog for this week, summarizing my new perspective.

I'm not saying that 360-Video will take over filmmaking, but there are several aspects here that can give us new tools to tell stories and, more importantly, new ways for clients to hire us to create new programs. Its a good show - click here to listen.

In addition to my blog on 360-Video, I also wrote one on how I write technical articles. This grew out of a long conversation to explain my thinking to Misha who was contributing a product review to last week's newsletter. I discovered that not only did I have lots of opinions on the subject, but I also follow a clear, though never articulated, structure.

The big news this week is that the Media Motion Ball returns to NAB/Las Vegas for its 20th Annual Bacchanal. Carey Dissmore tells me their site went live about midnight last night - click here for all the details. This is a great party and well worth attending.

And, thinking of great parties, I would be remiss not to mention the legendary NAB SuperMeet. Celebrating their 16th year, Mike Horton and Dan Berube put on an incredible show. Click here for all the details.

On an entirely different front, I've been asked many times when I'm going to update my training on Motion. And the answer is: right now.  I'm creating a five-part series on the latest version of Motion (5.3). Each of these sessions will be presented as a webinar, with the first one presented last week and now available in my store and our Video Training Library.

These new webinars allow me to update my training as well as include new things I've learned over the last year or two.

If you can, join me for the live webinar. (It's free - sign-up here.) If you can't, make a point to download these sessions from my store. You'll also find two video excerpts from last week's webinar as part of my articles for this week.

Starting at the beginning of this year, I'm now doing final audio mixes of all my webinars in Adobe Audition. This means that I need to move the edited project from Final Cut Pro X into Audition for the mix. (I also edit in Premiere, but that workflow is different.) This process doesn't take long, but there are a lot of steps, so this week, I wrote an illustrated workflow to explain how this works.

That's it for this week. Make a point to join us for this week's webinar - I'm having fun presenting all these new ideas for Motion and I think you'll enjoy them, too. In the meantime, edit well.
