Feb. 20, 2017
Google is making our lives difficult. My lead story concerns the process of using mosaics to hide identities - it no longer works to safely guard identities. I also have a "think-piece" on changing how we measure audio from peak levels to average levels, then using LUFS to keep our projects sounding good and levels safe.
My other two articles look at automatic audio enhancements in Final Cut Pro X and an upgrade to Kyno media management software that can simplify finding the rights clips for both Adobe Premiere and Apple Final Cut Pro.
Kyno is a really cool program - especially if you have a lot of media to manage. You can use it to view, tag, transcode and subclip your media, then send it almost instantly to Final Cut Pro X, Final Cut Pro 7, and most versions of Adobe Premiere.
Then, from sister site, DoddleNEWS, I have a story on Nikon's struggles to stay relevant with DSLRs that also shoot video.
Thinking of relevance, this week's webinar showcases some of the "Simple Things" in Final Cut Pro X that you may not know, but can make your life easier. I got such positive reviews for presenting this subject on Premiere two weeks ago that I am doing the same thing for Final Cut. Registration for our live shows is always free - sign up here.
Last week on the Digital Production Buzz, we looked at "Lights, Cameras and Action." Ned Soltz and Bob Caniglia talked about how to pick the right camera for your next project, Yvonne Russo explained her process of scripting and pre-production, Jourdan Aldredge shared tips to improve our productions that don't cost a ton of money and Tama Berkeljon explained how his company creates LED lighting instruments with an exceedingly smooth light. And, as always, James DeRuvo presents our weekly DoddleNEWS update. Check out the show here.
And, thinking of The Buzz, we will be back at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas in April. We are originating something like 24 live shows in four days. The website isn't ready yet - you'll find last year's coverage at www.nabshowbuzz.com - but we have already started booking guests. If you are interested in being on the show, drop me a note.
Well, Los Angeles is setting new records for rainfall this year. Friday, it rained so hard that full trash barrels were floating down the street in front of us. Today was nice and sunny, but the rains return tomorrow. Once I wrap up this newsletter, I'm off to buy a bigger umbrella - or a boat. Chat with you next week, in the meantime, edit well.
