CRESCENDO NOTES
Special Needs Financial Planning
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas with their families. I am taking a few days off here at the end of the year to rest and recharge for 2018.

I have a few items to share with you as we end the year. I had hoped to write more, but there has been so much activity with the passing of the Tax Reform and end of year items as a Financial Advisor and more importantly as a mom, I haven’t had the time to prepare. I know that most of my readers can appreciate this!
ABLE to Work has passed!

The ABLE to Work Act along with the ABLE Financial Planning Act, which allows ABLE beneficiaries to roll over their regular 529 savings accounts to 529A (ABLE) accounts, was passed by the US Congress last week and signed in to law by President Trump on Wednesday December 20, 2017. These bills, respectively, were known as the ABLE to Work Act (S. 818/H.R. 1896) and the ABLE Financial Planning Act (S. 816/ H.R. 1897), and both bills garnered bipartisan support from members of Congress who were willing to listen and ready to act on improving the rights of individuals with disabilities. I Passed!
In 2017, I completed the Chartered Special Needs Consultant Designation -ChSNC ®  through the American College of Financial Services. This was a yearlong endeavor for me and I am excited to share the knowledge that I have gained from this experience.  Click here to learn more about this designation and the coursework I completed in the areas of tax planning, estate planning, public benefits, as well as study on the emotional aspects of providing for a loved one with a disability.
Topics for 2018
My hope for Crescendo Notes in 2018 is to share with you some of the individuals I have met working as a Financial Advisor with a focus on Special Needs Financial Planning.  I will be using this monthly space to share their work and their experiences.  I have learned from my clients, and prospects that there are some key challenges they face when planning for the future of their child. As of now, I have compiled three which include housing, employment and transportation Stay tuned for future issues on these topics, and those within the community who are working hard to make a difference in these areas for families.

I am looking forward to a busy beginning of the year.  But for now, I am taking some time to reflect on all that 2017 brought to my life.  I hope you take some time to do the same.
