A Message From Our President

Can you believe it is already May?? I am certainly ready to enjoy some of our beautiful San Diego summer sun! Be sure to join us at Family Beach Day at Mission Beach on May 21st to enjoy our wonderful beaches with other understanding and supportive families. We will be holding these events once a month all summer long, so be sure to follow us on meetup and Facebook so you can stay informed of all of our summer events! 

As we near our Annual Meeting in June, that means we are recruiting board members for the 2017-2018 board year. I invite you to consider joining us in working to make a difference in the lives of autistic people and their families. Our board is an all volunteer, working board, and is a great way to give back to our local autism community. We would love to have you join us!

San Diego Festival of the Arts is June 10-11, 2017
 at Waterfront Park

San Diego Magazine and Torrey Pines Kiwanis' San Diego Festival of the Arts  gathers nearly 200 artists in a bay view setting of original fine art, entertainment and delicious cuisines, complemented with fine wine and craft beer as you stroll the turf of Waterfront Park. Guests will enjoy an exceptional dining experience from San Diego's favorite restaurants, sample San Diego craft beer, and experience interactive activities for the whole family.

The Festival is produced by the San Diego Magazine and Torrey Pines Kiwanis, a non-profit organization that raises funds to support adaptive sports and recreation programs for San Diegans' with disabilities, and Autism Society San Diego is a beneficiary of this event. Join us as we enjoy art, food and fun while raising money for worthwhile programs here in San Diego!

Join us for our May Family Beach Day on Sunday, 
May 21st at Mission Beach! 

We will meet one Sunday per month from 10 AM - 2 PM at various beaches around the county, starting in April and running through September. This is a great chance to meet other families and have an enjoyable day out in an understanding and supportive atmosphere. 
Join for a fun Wine and Paint night out at 57 Degrees! 
Have a fabulous time while we create art and enjoy some great food and drinks!  A professional artist will lead our group to recreate the event's featured painting while we enjoy a relaxing evening out.

We will be announcing our summer, adult recreation program, AWARE-Adults With Autism Recreation Experience- later this week.  Be on the lookout for d etails about the program and registration information.

The Autism Society San Diego will be hosting a Film Event featuring short and full length movies by and about local adults impacted by autism and other developmental disabilities. There will be a food and beverage reception plus an opportunity to Meet and Greet the filmmakers and film stars.   More details will be forthcoming in future announcements.


Beers and Cheers for Autism will be held at Mike Hess Brewing in North Park on Thursday, October 12th - join us for a good time for a good cause! 

Walk and Rock for Autism 5K and Family Festival will take place on November 11th at Cal State San Marcos, and you will not want to miss it!
