A Message From Mr. Stoops

This week, Guardian Angels School celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week! It is a week devoted to show gratitude for the many talents, strengths, and attributes of our dedicated teachers. PTA is helping us celebrate by providing daily raffle drawings, a breakfast and luncheon, as well as daily surprises in mailboxes! Thank you, PTA!  I encourage every parent to reach out to your child's teacher and thank him/her for responding to the calling as a Catholic school educator, and helping your child develop in their spiritual and academic journeys.

Also, we had a beautiful celebration on Saturday, as our second grade students made their First Holy Communion. Congratulations to these angels as they received the Body and Blood of our Lord for the first time. It is my prayerful hope that they always remember this occasion and continue their development for understanding the joy, meaning, and fulfillment of the Holy Eucharist every time they receive this precious gift of our faith.

God Bless,

Corey

We have many academic and athletic accomplishments to announce! Congratulations to all of our students on another successful school year!

Spring Concert
The date of our Spring Concert has been changed to Wednesday, May 17, to avoid a conflict with the McNicholas High School Baccalaureate Mass scheduled for that evening.

Grandparents' Day
Guardian Angels School will host Grandparents' Day on May 19  beginning at 9:30 in the church. We will begin with a prayer service, recognizing these special people in our lives. Retirement Mass For Irene Schmidt

We will honor Mrs. Irene Schmidt for her 16 years of service at Guardian Angels School during our Mass on May 23. Mrs. Schmidt is retiring at the end of this school year. She would like to invite her former students to celebrate this Mass with her. Mass begins at 8:15am. Mrs. Schmidt's dedication and service has been greatly appreciated.
Art Room News

Thank you to everyone who helped make this school year's "Artastic" Art Show a success! The students were so excited to see their hard work displayed for everyone to view. I'm grateful to the parents, teachers, and staff who helped me organize the set up and take down of the show.

Evalyn Reichard, Sophie Lawler, and Ireland Molnar had work chosen for display at the Contemporary Arts Center downtown. Our 5th grade was invited to participate since our art classes went on a field trip there this year through the Contemporary Arts Center's Scripps School program.  You are welcome to see their work on display  May 8-12 . There is also a  closing reception on Friday, May 12th 6:00-8:00pm with light refreshments. It is open to the public.
Please wish them congratulations!

Our Ulmer's Auto Care Contest winners were honored at a ceremony this week and each received $100.00!  Winners included: Logan Kohl , 6th grader "Best of Show", kindergartener-- Jack Spiller, 1st grader-- Sophie Busse , 4th grader-- Donovan Waleskowski, 5th grader-- Reagan Lisch , and 6th grader-- Colin Sander.
This is quite impressive, considering we were competing against other area schools!

We are in need of several supplies in the Art Room. If you can drop the off at the office, labeled "Art Room" or send them in with your child, it would be most appreciated! Needed items include: q uart zip lock bags, sponges, spray cleaner without bleach, clear plastic containers with lids--any size!

Thank you!
Anne Pavely, GA Art Teacher
Book Swap In The Library

It's hard to believe that we're already facing the end of another great school year! To celebrate, we'll be having a "Book Swap" in the library May 15-26. Clean off those home book shelves and bring in gently used books to the library to trade for new books for summer! There is no limit on the number of books brought in, but please make sure they are appropriate for our school and in good condition. For every book brought in, students will receive a ticket to trade in for another book. We'd like to have books brought to the library by Friday, May 12 but will be accepting books through the next 2 weeks. Any leftover books will be donated. What a great way to "spring clean" and get some new books for summer reading!
Thank You For Supporting The Ecology Club

On behalf of the Ecology Club, thanks so much for your generous support! Through the $1 donations to wear green t-shirts on April 28th, we raised $182 to put toward new "green" efforts throughout the school.

Also, the new recycling bin in the cafeteria has consistently been full at the end of every day with plastic bottles and milk cartons! That means that throughout an entire school year, we could ideally keep 180 bags of garbage from the landfills, reduce energy consumption needed to create all new materials, and reduce our carbon footprint.
School Supply Orders For 2017-2018

It is that time of the year to think about next school year's school supplies. This year everyone who would like to order their supplies from School Tool Box can do so online. Each Spring,  the PTA works with individual teachers to create a school supply kit to purchase for the coming year. It offers a convenience for parents to have all of your child's needed items collected and ready for the start of class. Kits are delivered to school for parents to pick up before school starts. Participation in this program is not required.

This year these orders are to be placed between May 3rd and June 16th. Supplies will be available to be picked up on August 13th from 9:00am-12:30pm in the undercroft. If you are unable to pick-up your order, please make arrangements to have your order picked up. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Singleton.

Proceeds from these orders benefit the GA PTA. Additional instructions for ordering online can be found here.

Other News & Announcements
Join Us Each Thursday In Church
The Guardian Angels community invites you to join us for Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament each Thursday in the church.
In the month of April, the whole Church is invited by Pope Francis to pray for our youth. Specifically, we are asked to pray that young people may respond generously to their vocations and seriously consider offering themselves to God in the priesthood or consecrated life. Join us as we offer a Family Rosary each Thursday at 3pm in the church for this intention and many others.
Cookie Ministry
Guardian Angels School Cookie Ministry teams up with the Parish Parish Peanut Butter group to feed families in need. The Peanut Butter group makes 1,500 peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. GA students donate cookies. St. Francis Seraph Church in Over-the-Rhine gives the food to families in need. Students are asked to bring in two dozen cookies, brownies, or rice krispie bars on their classroom's designated day. They do need to be bagged, two treats per bag. All 2nd grade classes are responsible for the next donation on Monday, May 15th.
