WASHINGTON COUNTY TO ACCEPT PREPAYMENT OF
FISCAL YEAR 2019 REAL ESTATE PROPERTY TAX
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (December 29, 2017) - The Washington County Board of County Commissioners , met for an emergency public hearing and meeting, as is required by statute, on Friday, December 29, 2017 regarding a local ordinance to accept prepayment of fiscal year 2019 property taxes. The 2019 fiscal year begins July 1, 2018 and ends June 30, 2019.
 
Effective immediately, Washington County is accepting prepayment of fiscal year 2019 property taxes. Those who wish to prepay may do so by mailing or submitting a check or money order to:
                        Washington County Treasurer's Office
                        35 West Washington Street, Suite 102
                        Hagerstown, MD 21740-4868
 
Please include your 8-digit parcel identification number in the memo portion of your check, and also indicate "Fiscal Year 2019 prepayment of real estate property taxes." Funds will be applied to the FY-19 tax obligation on July 1, 2018.
 
Prepayments must be postmarked by December 31, 2017 to be accepted by the Treasurer's Office. Prepayments must be in the form of check or money order as cash and/or debit/credit card cannot and will not be accepted.
 
The new tax law signed into law last week will take effect on January 1, 2018. Visit this website for more information from the IRS.
