Flight team competes in national championship May 9-14
The Kansas State Polytechnic Flight Team will take on other collegiate aviation programs from across the country this week when they compete for the title of national champions.
T
he flight team is participating in
the National Intercollegiate Flying Association's SAFECON National Championship May 9-14 in Columbus, Ohio. The pilots will battle it out in a variety of events both on the ground and in the air, with the school with the most points taking home the top award.
In October, the flight team placed third at their regional, which was enough to qualify them for nationals. Senior Chris Messing took home the honor of Top Scoring Contestant and Top Pilot.

Just relax: Students enjoy 'Stress Free Week' before finals begin
The countdown to the end of the school year has begun, and the only thing standing in the way of summer break are finals. To help students give their best in the classroom one last time this semester, Kansas State Polytechnic made sure they feel relaxed and ready to go with Stress Free Week.
During May 1-6, Polytechnic Campus students enjoyed a variety of events and special discounts created to ease burdens and unwind tensions. Stress Free Week included such activities as yoga, video games, grocery bingo and board games. In addition, students received meal discounts at Mokas, Chick-fil-a and the cafeteria.
Hopefully Stress Free Week gave students the mental break they deserve and helped push them through the finish line. Best of luck with finals!

Engineering technology seniors present final design projects
 The culmination of a year's worth of students' work was put on display May 4 during project presentations from the engineering technology program.
Three teams from the
mechanical engineering technology major and one group from the electronic and computer engineering technology major participated in the "Engineering Technology Senior Design Project Presentation and Reception." The students put their design projects on display in front of their professors and fellow students as well as their industry sponsor before gathering together for a shared meal.
The team of students featured in the top photo created a project for the Kansas State University Bulk Solids Innovation Center, which is located in Salina and often collaborates with students.

A high-five is one of the most recognizable ways two people can share excitement or celebrate a job well done. Kansas State Polytechnic's CEO and Dean Verna Fitzsimmons awards her high-five each week to honor faculty, staff and students for their dedication to the university.

Aviation Scholarships:
The Paul Whelan Aviation Scholarship is offering a $2,000 scholarship. Must be in aviation major with a 2.5 or better overall GPA and a 3.0 or better GPA in aviation coursework.

Will you be attending Kansas State Polytechnic this summer and are in need of financial aid? First enroll in your summer classes and then complete the Summer Financial Aid Application. Loan Repayment Option for Graduating Students
The state of Kansas is offering up to $15,000 in student loan repayment and up to a 5 year state tax waiver for graduates who establish residency in one of the 77 Kansas counties designated as a rural opportunity zone. For more information, visit the link below:

Award amount is for tuition only in a K-State course for up to 3 credit hours per term.
The maximum award amount will not exceed the value of 3 hours at the in-state Manhattan/Salina tuition rate (ie. Campus fees, other institutional fees, etc. are the responsibility of the employee).
2. Spouse/Dependent Grants (Available in fall and spring semesters only. Not available in the summer.)
