Caring for our military
Another thank you to Packages4Patriots, an outreach of Holy Spirit, Elk Grove Village, IL:
"Dear Packages4Patriots,
I would like to thank you so much for all the goodies you sent. It had a lot of really nice stuff in it that I needed and some good treats I haven't had in a few months. Thank you for all of your support and prayers. I shared some stuff that you sent with my whole flight. Here is a photo from all of us saying thank you and happy holidays!"
Selfless serving
Click on the link below to watch a heart-warming story about giving from one of the students at Redeemer Lutheran School Pre-K - 12th Grade, Pittsburgh, PA. Middle school student Demetrius Broadnax Jr., 12, was featured on the local news, detailing how and why he shared his Christmas gifts with other children who lost loved ones to violence. News link is HERE .

Supporting our troops
Angelica Lutheran Church, Allen Park, MI, collected donations for Troops Need Love Too's Christmas packing event. Included in the boxes were coloring pages with inspirational messages for our troops along with snacks and items they often can't get in their remote locations.

Sharing the Good News
The Church of Saint Mark Lutheran, Mississauga, ON, held a live nativity event in December. This annual event has been a community tradition for over 60 years. Various congregation members take shifts to dress for the nativity scene; volunteers pick up and return the sheep; and several members provide wonderful music, a fire pit and hot apple cider. This year, a layer of light snow enhanced the live nativity, and there was an angel on the roof of the manger for most of the evening. It was a memorable evening and a chance to remind the community of the reason that we all rejoice at Christmas.

Welcoming students
Students from China attended their first Christian worship ever on Christmas Eve 2017 at First Trinity Lutheran Church, Pittsburgh, PA . Students also attended a Christmas party on December 27, at the home of Anna Mussmann, an ESL instructor. The students really loved and appreciated both events..

Farewell sermon
Pastor Jeff Kunsman gave his farewell sermon on Sunday, December 31st. His ministry at St. Luke, Toronto, ON, brought the love of Jesus to so many. Thank you, Pastor Jeff. Enjoy your retirement!
Baptism!
Joshua Karkheck, age 9, will always remember his baptismal date. He received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on New Year's Eve, following morning worship hours at Grace Lutheran Church in Redford, MI. He is pictured with Rev. Timothy Halboth and his parents - both graduates of Concordia University, Seward, NE. Josh's mom, Bonnie, serves Grace as volunteer assistant to the pastors in children and youth.
Winter VBS
Grace Lutheran Church, Elyria, OH, hosted a winter Vacation Bible School. What an awesome day they had as 40 kids and 17 volunteers spent the day revisiting Maker Fun Factory! A special thanks to Kerry Parker and Brent Parker for leading the day. Now everyone is getting ready for "Shipwrecked," the theme for next summer's VBS!

Please prayerfully consider joining us in ministry, so that the English District - LCMS can continue its work in spreading the message of Christ. We have established the English District Endowment Fund, which is designed to support current and new missions and ministries, church worker and seminary students, and campus ministries in the areas where our congregations live and witness. Every gift matters. Whatever God leads you to give will be a great blessing as we all work together to plant new missions and schools and provide resources to existing ministries and church workers across the United States and Canada and around the world.   Click  here  for our giving page. Thank you!

For our Canadian friends: To receive a tax receipt, please make your cheque payable to your congregation and designate the gift for the English District Endowment Fund. Your congregation will forward your gift to the English District and provide you with a receipt for income tax purposes.
Previous issues of the Servant to Servant eNewlsetter are available on the English District website.   You are encouraged to share the information from Servant to Servant with members of your congregation.
