May is recognized each year as National Arthritis Awareness Month. 

According to the Arthritis Foundation, the disease directly impacts more than 50 million Americans, making it the number one cause of disability in the country. That means one in every five adults, 300,000 children and countless families are affected by arthritis. 

The first steps in managing arthritis are learning the facts, understanding the condition, and knowing that help is available.

SIGNS OF A STROKE

During a stroke, every minute counts!  Fast treatment can lessen the brain damage that stroke can cause.

By knowing the signs and symptoms of stroke, you can take quick action and perhaps save a life-maybe even your own. 

Signs of stroke in men and women:
  • Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or difficulty understanding speech
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or lack of coordination
  • Sudden severe headache with no known cause
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends you call 911 right away if you or someone else has any of these symptoms .

SPOT SKIN CANCER
It is estimated that  one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. 

When caught early, skin cancer is highly treatable.
That is why it is recommended that you examine your skin regularly for any unusual or changing spots.
