Family Support Spotlight!

You may have noticed a new member of our staff!
We welcome Shari as our new Early Ed Specialist!

Shari was born and raised in the Boston area, and moved to California after college. She resided in the San Francisco Bay Area for 12 years, working in various educational settings along the way: in special education, early literacy intervention, and private tutoring. Seeing the divide between rich and poor in the public education system, Shari wanted to find a way she could help make a difference. After planning and collaborating with community families, she founded Green Branch, a social justice and environmentally themed library for children. The nonprofit works to give youth of all ages access to culturally relevant resources to learn more about community issues they want to advocate around. Green Branch is currently fundraising to start a bookmobile project.
Shari has been back in Massachusetts for a year, wanting to be closer to her family, and a rural life. She has a BA in Child Development from Tufts University, and an MA in Education from San Francisco State University. She lives with her little dog, Mango, and is happy to be a part of Community Action.
