A Note from Frankie

Dear Friends, 

This might just be the most exciting newsletter to date!  There is so much to share with you about the events happening at the studio this summer. The wonderful news is that you are invited to all of them, so take a peak and follow your heart.  I am sure that you will find something to enjoy. 

This Saturday is the next workshop in our Yoga Series and it is called "Yoga to Go - Developing a Home Practice."  The three sequences that I have created for you are "Going Primal", "Spiral & Go", and "To Go Home."  Individually each sequence transforms a day without a class into a day of yoga - and together they offer a diversity of poses, energy levels and challenges to different myo-fascial lines.  Remember the early bird rate ends Friday - so sign up early.  

Our 300 hour Yoga Alliance Approved Teacher Training at Satya Life Yoga starts August of 2017.  This program is for Yoga teachers who have completed a 200 hour certification.  Graduates of the course receive a 500 hour certification through Yoga Alliance. It is comprised of 12.5 intensive retreat-like weekends. Thinking about taking this next step? Free Informational Sessions are available upon request!  Get to know us, ask any questions and learn about our unique program.  Class sizes are small so you receive invaluable learning and attention developing both your personal yoga practice as well as the skills to empower the teacher within you.  We are accepting applications now. For the Qigong practitioners, Tai Chi players and all of us interested in energy work and healing, we are pleased to announce that Master Hao will be returning to Satya Life Yoga in July.  This year the Qi healing course is a one weekend program surrounded by days of private or semi-private sessions with Master Hao. The Shao-Lin Stick Therapy that so many of us enjoyed in our private sessions last time is part of the course work and I am so pleased to share with you that we have at last found the sticks that Hao so brilliantly uses. I highly recommend a repeat of the course for any of us who attended the two weekend program last time because the material is so rich.  We have added a practice session with Hao into the weekend as well.  

Just when you thought July couldn't get any hotter, it does.  Saturday July 23rd is going to sizzle when singer/songwriter Rebecca Folsom comes to Satya Life Yoga to perform songs from her new album "Extraordinary Days/Little Medicines." If you like folk music, you will find that Rebecca is one of the finest.  Join us for this barefoot concert!  Check out links to her music in the newsletter below!

Have I mentioned the Tai Chi Push Hands class this Wednesday night? The once in a blue moon offering of Aerial Yoga coming in July (as well as the daytime Aerial in June), New Evening Tai Chi, a fall High Qigong Class or the Memorial Day Holiday Schedule?  I didn't think so!  Read on for information about all these programs and more.

New Yoga Workshop: 
Yoga to Go -  Developing Your Home Practice

This Saturday, learn three 15 minute yoga home practice series that you can take with you anywhere!  Let your practice travel with you to the beach, the trails or any amazing destination you desire.  
 
Expand your home practice or learn the skills to start a new one.

Join Frankie Hart for a special Continuing Tai Chi Class in which we will study 
the Tai Chi form of "Push Hands".  
 
What are the benefits of Push Hands? Many.  Here are a few.
 
1. To understand and develop your sense of "softness" which is essential to the Tai Chi practice.
 
2. To master your sense of balance and rootedness.
 
3. To develop the depth of your sit and the length of your stretch.
 
4. To achieve a meditative state of mind even in the presence of another's force.  
 
 
Push Hands teach you about the Tai Chi forms and 
the  Tai Chi forms teach you about Push Hands. 

This class is open to anyone who has completed the Tai Chi 24 Form Series 
at least one time.

Tai Chi can perhaps best be thought of as a moving form of meditation.

It is a self-paced, noncompetitive, graceful form of exercise appropriate for all levels of fitness. Learning to do the forms correctly builds bone density as it increases muscle strength, flexibility and overall coordination. Practicing Tai Chi contributes to better standing, walking, and seated postures. Practitioners realize benefits including improved balance and posture, stress relief and ease of movement in life's daily activities.

Experiencing Tai Chi as meditation in motion creates a calm and tranquil mind.
 
These classes are open to everyone. People new to Tai Chi are welcome!

About Aerial Yoga:

Students registering for Aerial Yoga should have a strong core foundation, be able to hold a plank pose for 30 seconds, have no contraindications for inverting (hanging upside down), and have no recent hip, shoulder or spine injuries.
