Poinsettia Update
The twelve days of Christmas have passed, and our lovely poinsettia display will be removed after Sun Jan 7. We invite you to take a plant home with you. Next week we will compost the remaining plants and return any leftover foil pot covers and plastic trays to Mario Pardillo and Earthborn Indoor Gardeners for re-use.

After the service this Sunday, please join us in the kitchen to help prepare a hot meal for 120 people at the HOPE Community Services soup kitchen. The work is simple, taking only about 2 hours. An easy way to make a difference!

Gratitudes
A big, heartfelt thank you from the Opportunities for Giving team. Because of your generosity this holiday season, we provided a carload of new gifts to the Hour Children Annual Holiday Program at the Bedford Correctional Center; we gave over 200 gift cards to children at the Coachman Family Center and over $1600 to the Center from our December plate share collection; we brought 10 bags worth of warmth and toiletries to local shelter residents from our overflowing mitten tree; and we supported the Ecumenical Food Pantry with over $4,000 in monetary donations and several deliveries of gently used books, toys, and stuffed animals for their client families to use as gifts. We are so grateful for our longtime volunteers as well as our talented new ones who kept us effective and organized. Thank you to everyone for helping CUUC make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Share the Plate for January: PrideWorks
In January, we share half the non-pledge plate collection with PrideWorks, an educational conference held each year in Westchester for LGBTQ youth and their allies. PrideWorks' mission is to inform heterosexual/cisgender people about the realities of growing up gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer/questioning; to inspire all communities to respect and support LGBTQ people; and to advocate for positive change. Westchester UU congregations have been a supportive presence at the PrideWorks conference, greeting the arriving youth outside as a way to counterbalance the anti-gay protesters who picket there. Our continued support, both physical and financial, is critical to PrideWorks and the youth they serve.
