Any child attending Cabarrus County Schools can get a free subscription to ReadyRosie! ReadyRosie is the first online resource that provides families with a daily, modeled activity for adults to do with children, from infancy up to age six.

The daily, two-minute video arrives each weekday morning in your email inbox. Each video shows a math, language arts, or vocabulary activity in English or Spanish that you can do with your child. These two-minute activities are simple, easy, fun and help you connect to and build on your child's learning. You and your child can do the activities at home, at the grocery store, at the park, or on the go.
EatPlayGrow recently finished a series of 12 workshops that taught families about healthier habits using books, art, music and key messages to help children become healthier as they grow. Nearly 100 parents and children were reached over the 12-week period.

During their last workshop, students at Logan Community Child Development Center made pillows and learned about healthy sleeping habits.

She says students need more than just a few scattered stories: "We need to give them a large literary room of characters to connect with." So, in that spirit, we've reached out to experts and scoured the blogs and asked authors what books they'd put in that big room. Click below to see five great examples.

A new study out today says parents of preschoolers can do three simple things: regulate meals, bedtime and screen time,  and not only improve their child's emotional health, but also substantially cut down on the likelihood their child will be obese.

Previous studies have shown that the risk of obesity for children decreased when preschoolers got enough sleep, ate meals with their families, and had limits on their screen time. The new research is the first to ever take a look at family structure routines and health outcomes in their preteen years.
